  1. This is great! Keep them coming folks!
  2. The wee tiny Berkeley, with it's 4 foot, 2 inch width and 5 foot 10 inch wheelbase, makes a seven look positively behemoth.
  3. A couple of folks on here were interested in seeing some photos of the microcars at the meet a couple of weeks ago in Tacoma. Lots of very interesting cars and interesting owners! The first little red thing with the targa style top is a Toyota 800 Sports - very cool. The others include the other photos include a couple of Berkeleys (which I love), a pair of messerschmidts (sp?), a Hienkel and an old Mazda. I have many more photos of stuff like Subarus, a Goggomobile, a NSU/Fiat, Isettas, a King Midget, and the list goes on and on….
  4. Nope. Some really cool 60s Japanese cars, but most of them were European or oddball American stuff. There were several trikes there, but no Polaris, either. I can start another post in the off topic section and include photos if anyone is interested.
  5. Just got back from the Microcar Extravaganza in Tacoma. I have a soft spot for the little darlings. The weirder, the better and, yes, the Polaris slingshot is plenty weird!
  6. I agree with all of this, but I want to point out that Morgan trikes (established in 1910) actually predate WW I by several years and weren't just a notion cooked after after WW II dor cheap transport. They were a very well-established trike company prior to WW II, ceasing civilian production during the war. Four wheeled Morgans are a relatively late post-WW II "innovation" for that company.
  7. Beautiful wheels. I believe those are American Racing "Libre" style rather than Torq Thrusts. One of my favourite designs, for sure.
  8. Quick question: what year did Caterham move their headlights forward and down?
  9. I believe that 1973 is several years too late for a Lotus series 3. The register says they were produced by Lotus until January 1970.
  10. I've seen a few Westfields in Canada. In fact there was a lovely black one for sale outside of Calgary a few years ago. On another note, I LOVE the look of what I can only imagine is a padded rollbar (and the wheels) on the '73 Caterham. Somewhere on line there's a fabulous black and white picture of an early Caterham with surfboard on top with same rollbar. It looks great.
  11. Shelby also made a very similar wheel. The Shelbys I have look like a minilites with a sandblasted centre. 13 x 6, with 4x114.3 bolt pattern, but wider versions were likely made at one time. Mine are from the early 80s.
  12. Well said, AndyB.
  13. Seems like there's always at least one nice seven for sale in BC. Check "kijiji" or "used victoria" or the "old English car club" classifieds for long enough and the one you want is bound to appear.
  14. Go for it, Andy! Sounds like a gas!
  15. Now THAT, is cool! One of my old work mates used to race old Saab two-strokes in Canada. Rumor has it that he's got a sizable collection of them on his farm.
  16. That tail end is pretty neat looking. It's a bit reminiscent of a '61 corvair, which I've always liked the tail end of.
  17. You probably know this already, but that engine failure sounds like what happens when you don't free-wheel down hill in two-stroke, as Andy B mentioned.... something to be mindful of once you've done the rebuild. I'm not sure where you're located, but there is mechanic in Portland (MPH Specialties?) who does lots of work on weird and wonderful old two-strokes and other 3 cylinder oddities. Seems like a very good guy.
  18. Very nice! Welcome to the forum.
  19. Here's attempt #2 at a photo of the '58 deek wagon I bought a couple of months ago. 2-stroke joy. It show up as an attachment.
  20. Ack! Sorry about your engine scannon. Hopefully it's just a new piston, rings, and a honing that you need.
  21. scannon your Saab looks to be in amazing shape. Excellent purchase! The dkw that I mentioned above fired up, no problem, with fresh gas/oil mix after sitting in a field on "the wet coast" for three years. I'm sure you'll have that running in no time.
  22. I can't remember how to post pictures, so forgive if this doesn't work.
  23. I have a '58 DKW wagon with a 3 cylinder 2 stroke. It's a super cool car with a very unique sound. I would never swap out the two stroke. They are way too cool.
  24. Very cool. I've got a number of photos of 1950s hill climb events showing fairly stock Jowetts and Singers put to the test. It really must have been quite something to see back in the day. I imagine that an early hotrod V-8 would have been quite a beast on a washboard gravel road with tight bends.
