scannon Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 http://www.upworthy.com/they-took-a-camera-to-a-remote-area-in-greenland-and-what-they-recorded-is-simply-terrifying Watch it full screen, turn up the volume a bit and watch it to the end to get a perspective of how big it actually was.
turboeric Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 That's from the documentary Chasing Ice, which I saw in a theatre last year. Well worth seeing, and seeing that sequence (and others) on the big screen is simply awe-inspiring.
xcarguy Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Watch it full screen . . . . . to get a perspective of how big it actually was. I suddenly feel very small, a tad bit vulnereble and a little insignificant.
WestTexasS2K Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I lived in Thule Greenland for 2 years. We saw a few ice glaciers breaking off during the summer, but it was very small pieces the size of a car or a small bus. Not the size of a major city. That must have been awesome to hear in person.
Croc Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 The more frustrating thing is wondering where our political leaders are in providing leadership on the environment at times like this.
Paul Hill Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Croc No doubt the politicos missed even the reruns... Tough to see much with your head up your A$$!
Mondo Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Would of loved to hear that in high quality sound... definitely would be used in disaster movies;)
scannon Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 Our Alaskan correspondent (Alaskossie) has informed me that the graphic at the end of the clip depicting the shrinkage of the glacier does not represent the glacier in the video but is that of a much smaller glacier located in Alaska.
