soareyes Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 With my Birkin approaching 10,000 miles (purchased used with 1000 miles in 2005), I was wondering who on this board had the highest mileage? I don't expect mine will be anywhere near the highest. So post up and we can find out!
Mike Rohaley Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I am just a bit over 33,000 miles on our 2001 (would be closer to 40K if I didn't bust myself up a couple summers ago which kept me out of the drivers seat all summer). Is anyone over 50,000 or the magic 100,000 without fused vertibrea to show for it?
Al N. Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Mike- You are an iron man...have you owned from new? I've had my car for 2 years and it's only got 3100 miles on it! Speaking of fused vertebrae...last year at Skyline East, I spent about 9 hours in the seat in one day and could barely walk the next day! -Al
Boxologist Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 about ~7500 miles now. picked it up 12 months ago with 759.
slngsht Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I don't have a odometer anymore, but I've put at least 6K or 7K in the last 2 years.
Donnie Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 :hurray: I turned 49K miles on the way to Tapoco on 7/6. I'm the third owner (a '92 Caterham). The 1st owner built it in '92 and sold it within a year. The second owner, who lived in Williamsburg Va., put 48,000 + on it and sold it to me in Jan. '07 after a complete Chip Bond rebuild. I've still getting acclimated but I love it. My last Brit sports car was a Frog Eye which I sold prior to moving to Tn. 4 years ago. I can't be the high mileage champ at only 49,000. Donnie
11Budlite Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 When I went for a ride with Cherik at the Dragon, I believe he said that he has around 70k miles on his Caterham!! According to his maintenance log he had 67k as of 5/31/2007. Hopefully he'll be along soon to verify. Bruce
WestTexasS2K Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I guess you can say that, 9k miles were with a 12' trailer toted at 80 mph in 13 days.
Kitcat Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I have 17.3K on my '97 Crossflow. It had 13.8 when I bought it 7 weeks ago and I have put 3.5K miles on since then (Drove home from NJ, did the Dragon and 3 track days). No trailering. Mike
soareyes Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 Maybe track miles should be counted like dog years - 1 track mile equals 7 street miles
slngsht Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Maybe track miles should be counted like dog years - 1 track mile equals 7 street miles   Sounds fair.
scannon Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 The rule of thumb seems to be 10 to 1 at least as far as calculating the wear and tear on a car.
WestTexasS2K Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Oh well better make mileage about 34k then  Last count I had about 2100 miles of track time. Kitcat is laying down some good mileage too. That is what makes a LSIS so much fun. Drive it to the track, abuse it, and drive it home most of the time. I hope I never find myself without one.
Cherik Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Bruce is correct. The latest is 69,500 miles as of this evening. Mostly daily driving miles. Two to four track events a year. No salt miles :-) The speedo indicates 4 k miles less, as I had to replace two of them in the early days. Cherik
Mike Rohaley Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 In reference to post #3 by Al: No, I bought it with 800 miles on it. I regards to seat time, Jen and I have done 12+ hours straight from Birmingham Alabama to Cleveland with no issues beyond just being tired of driving in general. Our drive from 7-7-07 was just a bit over 9 hours which went quick enough but boy was it boring. I may never understand how truck drivers can handle the monotony of highway driving day after day.
