seafarer
I'm planning on going to the next Daytona Turkey Run but was wondering how the street rod crowd would react to a 7. Showed up at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally one year with a Goldwing trike. Some of the Harley types were insulted that not only did I show up with 3 wheels but they were made in Japan too. Tried to tell them that I was too much of a nonconformist to ride a Harley but they never did understand. The funny part is that I was there the year before with a BMW sidecar rig and they thought it was "kool". If anyone has any tips about the turkey run I would like to hear those also. MightyMike
A Storker with an LS V8 would fit in well.
bigdog
I entered my 7 in a classic car show, hot rod weekend here in Walla Walla. There were over 400 cars entered. I took best in show for imports. Fielded lots of questions and both young and old loved the car. numerous street rod clubs approached me asking if I would join their club. As they were looking to add a little more variety and broaden the types of cars in the club. The import club wanted me to join as well and do some X-cross events. No one has ever expressed ill will towards my 7. Now, as I lived for several decades around Sturgis and even worked for the guy that started Black Hills HD. Don't use the D-bag I'm a hells angel for the weekend types that are the ones who show up for the rally and hurl most of the insults you endured. "kool" Who cares what they think? Besides...you're a nonconformist. :jester: I used to run with the street rod crowd. I've taken my Stalker to a few runs/cruses/shows/etc. in the past...always received good feedback.

You know the saying about if momma isn't happy nobody is happy. We went to a Friday note cruise in a while back. The folks were real clickish. They were polite but didn't really want to answer any questions. I went mainly to get some questions answered about a '27 T woodie I have been collecting parts to build. Never got the answers. powderbrake
I have had my seven in local car shows, and our local kit car club runs. The seven always gets a lot of interest and comments, and kids love it the best. I generally let the kids sit in the drivers seat, and they are blown away by someone letting them sit behind the wheel.

We found the older bikers friendly and really good people. It was mostly some of the younger ones who were hostile. I figured they watched too many episodes of Orange County Choppers. jimrankin
I take my 7 to the Cars and Coffee events at our two larger local events and am always well received and questioned about the car. The event at Canepa in Scotts Valley is mostly sports cars and classics so its expected but the event in San Jose is mostly hot rods and muscle cars and I always get placed in a feature spot there, probably because I'm a bit off the usual entrants. In San Jose there are a lot of kids brought by their dads and they love getting their pictures taken in a "Hot Wheels" car.

NVP66S
Here in West Texas, the interest is in old Detroit Iron. I take my car to local shows with this crowd because there isn't much else. Everybody is polite and I've never had a question go unanswered. Mostly, I get people walking up and saying versions of "Well, that's different" The kids love it "It's just my size!" I can't be too far out of it, as I got a personal invitation to visit the Chaparral 2J with the body work off behind the scenes at the museum. I find that if you're honest about what you have, you're accepted. The only clique I found is the low riders, and they keep to themselves in re everyone else, not just the funny little furrin car people.

toedrag
I've taken the Stalker to a variety of car shows, and reactions have always been very positive (not like the Elise/Exige 'positive, with a side of jealousy'....it's generally just pure joy elicited from ppl). It's a car that transcends the most common automotive circles: Kits, British/Lotus, Muscle, Vintage, Drag, Road course, and probably more I'm forgetting. seafarer
We've decided to go to Cruising at Spirit of the Suwanee on the 23rd. I've been accumulating parts to build a '27 T woody but need to clarify a few things before I start. It's going to be a hot trip this time of year in the lotus.
