I'm selling my 2009 Birkin S-3, located in my garage in Reno, Nevada. I have deleted the text of the ad as the car will be listed on bringatrailer.com. They have requested that any other listings of the car be removed while they prepare the listing and run the auction. It will be no reserve, so it should be fun and offer a nice market check on the price of a used Birkin. :)

Photos (linked to flickr because I couldn't figure out how to make them rotate in the posting):

Pending bringatrailer.com auction
Posted

I am likely going to list the car on bringatrailer.com. Initiating the process with them now. Not sure how long it takes for the auction to go live. If you're interested, please let me know.

Is it just me-not seeing a price?

Let me just add a note for 7 novices you will so much more enjoy having a right side exhaust, like on this offered car, for noise and heat protection.

In anticipation of an auction, I removed the price from the original listing. I didn't want to taint the auction.

I will note that even with the exhaust on the passenger side, this car is still not quiet. I don't wear ear plugs, but I could see how someone might prefer it for the wind and engine noise. I do wear goggles, however! :)

A new supercharged Caterham is $100K plus. This car has to be $30-$40K, assuming Tom Carlin and others have resolved the usual TMW assembly issues.

Dollar for dollar, the performance can't be beat. It pulls right along with my previous 991 GT3.

Tom Carlin is the man. He spent a lot of time getting TMW's supercharger kit to work - just because he is that kind of stand up guy. We had to build the engine and sump it to get there, but now it is a terror.

I'm interested in a quick and efficient sale. It has taken me a long time to get to a sale mentally, and now I'm mentally committed. If I delay and the weather gets nice, I'm sure I'll start to rethink my decision.

How tall a person would fit in this car with a helmet?

I couldn't say really. I fit, but I'm only 5'8". There is at least another few inches there, if not more. But torso length would matter more than overall height.

I'm 6'2" and have an older one (non irs) that I fit in fine. It isn't as roomy as my F250, but with the pedals forward and the seat all the way back I fit fine. I did make a bit taller roll bar.

Thanks, Croc. I am the buyer. I just registered, I figure I'll be visiting this site a lot more frequently now :)

rich - I'm located outside Richmond, VA. About 2 hours from VIR, where the car will be spending plenty of time. A close friend and I will be sharing the car. It'll primarily be used for track days, though I'm sure I'll drive it on the street every now and then.

Good job, I built that car for the original owner, let me know if you have any questions after you receive it.

Thanks for all the supportive comments. Tom - I am sure we will be in touch once I get the car.

Mike - The event in NJ sounds fun. I will have to see how it fits into my schedule as it gets a bit closer.

I was going to go to 27K but chickened out.

Coulda shoulda in retrospect :(

Remember, you also have to pay 5% of the final bid to BAT and you need to add another $1-2K for shipping the vehicle to you. So you are then around $30K out of pocket. And who knows what Jloehlein's threshold was? Might have gone a lot higher. I could easily see this as a $40-45K car.
