My last lotus

Recommended Posts

It's like being an drunk , declaring your last drink.

I am 67 last week and have enjoyed in series many limited production and special English sporting cars.

Knowing Miatas has steered me right, BRG NAs to my NC with automatic.

Having enjoyed within sevendom a Westfield S1, Lotus S2, DSK Cosworth and a Caterhan DeDion.

I tried for a while to buy an authenticated S1,or a truly special S2 like a 7/20, 37 , The problem is that the ease of replicating everything on these cars is simple. That and the excellent replicas and continuation products, For me in my more experienced years a SV Caterham with a passenger side exhaust would still work. But that's not really a Lotus is it?

What I did last year was purchase a 1951 MG TD VSCCA race car, street driven 1800 pounds 90hp/7000rpm, the few replicas of this are Siata Springs and fiberglass sorry things.

It's not a 7.

So for the past week I have been bidding on a new unfinished RHD S2 Lotus replica, bid $6666.66 the devil's number, it went past that with hours to go, I am writing this now before I connect with eBay. Perhaps to bid $7777.77, my favorite number.

Sometimes I feel like a drunk staring through the window of a bar looking in, wondering why?

I am sure I am not alone with this issue.

Wish me luck avoding temptation, the insanity definitions may apply.

Lust Lost!

Lotusman1951 - Sorry you didn't win but glad you didn't bid any higher. :) I ended up picking this one up on Saturday with my son. After having to sell my Birkin a few years back it feels good to be back in the Seven game! I'll start another thread sometime soon with a better description and photos of the car. Still don't know what direction I'm going to go with this one but it should be an interesting project.

Its all a good healthy addiction that may have an upside. I looked long and hard for 7's and almost bought a Birkin which are really well built. Found one and I offered him a price he could easily refuse. Which he did then I turned to other investments, remember to always call this addictions, Investments. And found a Superformance Daytona Coupe that the owner did except my low ball offer. Where upon the Birkin called cause his wife had been verbally abusing him. Sorry Mr Birkin guy but I just bought a Daytona. But back to the point. I chose a WCM #1 which really got me going. So much so I bought WCM #8 from the West Coast Distributor. WCM#1 went to great guy down in Temecula or was it San Diego? I have owned WCM #8 for some time now and love it. I mean it is the perfect weekend warrior and it keeps me off my hyper Superbikes. So look for a Brian Anderson built WCM and jump on it...... Now I have to go and get my medication

Getting over the "loss" glad for it to have a home. Played with all the engine combinations motorcycle to pushrods. I hope you have fun with it. My DSK Cosworth was an ultimate for me.

Keep the weight down, alloy what you put in, strive for 999 pounds and consider it art!, It's a bastard, but grace at under 1000 pounds is achievable.

Thanks lotusman1951, I'm still doing research to figure out what direction I want to go in. I've always wanted to vintage race and have a 948cc from my first car sitting in my basement. Would think it'd make a nice beginner vintage racecar.
