RiverRat
Not only did I not find an obd port but it looks like I have an aftermarket ECU. Anyone familiar with Birkins who can point me in the right direction. The problem I am having is I'm not getting any power to the injectors. Was hoping the OBD2 codes would have given me an idea where to start troubleshooting. Gary

Several aftermarket ECU's out there, none of them have OBD2 ports. What ECU do you have? (name should be on the ECU itself) Which injection system do you have? The next question is a bit simpler, have you pulled and checked all of the fuses and relays? Bill
RiverRat
I have Jenvey injectors . I have checked all the fuses in the fuse block. I have not checked the relays. The bracket for the ECU is almost as big as the unit itself. I cannot see any writing on it. I will have to pull the bracket off it to find anything.under the dash is kind of a tight fit for me. RiverRat
Here is a photo of the ECU. As you can see most of it is covered up.

mrmustang
Not a clue. Bought it used. Where did you but it out of (state)? Color combination? Pictures? Sounds strange, but when may know the cars origins, or maybe even recognize it as one where the owner used to be here. Bill S.
RiverRat
P I bought it from a member on here but it was probably 7 ?? years ago.
wemtd
Picture of engine bay, front end & rear? Looks like the old style nose and side mirrors that tmw used for a while.Any idea of original registration/ build year? Could be a TMW zetec build? Try reaching out to Dick. He may have built it and know what type of ECU you have.

MRMustang, I believe this was your old car. This sounds like it? http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?8598-New-Birkin-S3-FS-in-PA Soon as I saw the picture, I knew it was my old car. Still have the explorer, but the Featherlite trailer is long gone. The link to the ad tells all I have on the car that did not come in the binder with the car. Bill S. PS: Want to sell it back to me, I'll be back in the market in the next few months if I get approvals from my Dr. :driving:
mrmustang
DTA can reflash and help diagnose issues: https://www.dtafast.co.uk/ link@dtafast.co.uk I've emailed them in the past when I had the car and they were quite receptive about adding a more aggressive tune had I not had my downturn and sold the car in a weak moment...... JohnCh
Assuming there are no other issues (cranks, has spark, fuel pump runs, etc) and you've confirmed no power to all injectors with a multimeter, I'd start by tracing the common 12v+ wire that feeds the injectors. It could be as simple as that wire was disconnected from the source, or there is corrosion or a break within the insulation. Hopefully it's not the DTA, but I've heard of ECUs in se7ens succumbing to vibration over time and breaking solder joints. -John
RiverRat
Something doesn't want me to post on this site. Last night the Wi-Fi at work blocked the usa7s web site then this morning I got an error stating that my token had expired. It erased a rather long post that I had typed. RiverRat
Sorry Bill, the car will never be for sale. Took me too long to get one. I had wanted one of these since I was in grade school. The first car model i ever made was of a Lotus 7. Gary
RiverRat
John, All fuses are good, spark in all 4 cylinders, engine cranks, and there is fuel flow so your idea about the positive lead is probably spot on. I hate to work w/o a wiring diagram but it's time to get serious and just do it. I'm working graveyard shift this week so it will be next week before I get to it. JohnCh
I believe the common way to do this with wasted spark Zetecs is to tap into the same 12v+ that feeds the coil pack. If that's the case, tracing that wire to the source might be pretty easy and fully contained under bonnet. Hope it's easy to find and easy to fix! -John
