searya
After 10 years of tracking my Stalker I am finally considering buying my first set of new racing slicks and wanted to get suggestions. Up until now I have been running used Avon tires 10 inches wide by 23 inches tall in the back, and 10 wide by 20 tall in the front. They are all on 13 inch rims. The tires seem good to me but they are all I know. So should I stick with Avon? Or is there a better alternative? I have two full sets of wheels so I was thinking it may be best to have a set that can handle the cold mornings, spring and fall. And then another set that could handle the crazy hot summer. Suggestions for one set or both is appreciated!
Croc
Do you know what compound Avon you are running? i.e. how soft they are?

searya
Sorry for the long delay. Is there a number on my Avon’s which would tell me the compound? Like Shane’s a11 compound.
Croc
Yes there is - should be marked on the sidewall like the sizing data.
searya
So looks like I am running the A11 compound. I didn't see that number on the side wall but my fronts had number 2545 and rear had 2126 and I found this site ( https://rogerkrausracing.com/wp-content/uploads/bsk-pdf-manager/2018/04/Avon-A-Slicks-Radials-ZZR-ACB9-CR500-2017.pdf ) which shows an xref to A11 compound. I have been buying mine used from John Berget tires in Wisconsin. Anyone know have ideas for deals on new tires? Or if not what you all pay for new? Used are basically $90-$100 per tire shipped to me. Edited October 6, 2020 by searya
sf4018
I just purchased a new set of Avon ZZRs from Roger Kraus Racing a few weeks ago, I had the tires in a few days from enquiry so they are super fast and responsive. The tires are just north of $200/tire.
