Canadian 7 Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Ok now that nobody has posted in the Canadian section for over a year I’ll post! Am I the only person in Canada with a seven???
Anker Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) There are several. Check this map that I maintain for the Caterham and 7 Owners in the USA and Canada Facebook group https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1W26LQBnyuU9rPOkjSS5cNTcu5MLLJQf7&usp=sharing Edited September 27, 2020 by Anker
Anker Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 My apologies. Here is a link that you can use to see the other Canadian 7 owners that I know about: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1W26LQBnyuU9rPOkjSS5cNTcu5MLLJQf7&usp=sharing Anker
Canadian 7 Posted September 29, 2020 Author Posted September 29, 2020 Nope, but my son in law is Canadian! I rest my case! Lol.
colin Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 I've never had a problem with over the winter storage, I just use Shell Super , which has no ethanol. In Whitby, Ontario, 1989 Birkin Seven.
panamericano Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 I've never had a problem with over the winter storage, I just use Shell Super , which has no ethanol. In Whitby, Ontario, 1989 Birkin Seven. Oh sure, make the poor gringos jealous. If one lives in an EPA Non-Attainment area, as I do, the closest non ethanol gas is 60 miles away. Haven't bothered to try and con some avgas.
jbcollier Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 I'm in Edmonton, Alberta and just bought a 1970 Lotus Seven. It's mostly original with a crossflow and downdraft. I refurbished, and now happily drive, a S1 Europa but decided I wanted an open car again. Plan on a sympathetic mini-overhaul and hope to be driving the Seven first thing in the spring. There are a number of other Lotus Sevens in Canada and quite a few Caterhams and others as well. They show up at various Canadian Lotus club sites and pages. 2
jbcollier Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) It's under wraps right now until I finish off other projects. Here are photos from when I bought it. Came out of Toronto where it was originally sold. I'm the third owner. https://jbcollier.smugmug.com/Lotus-Seven-S3/ Edited December 3, 2022 by jbcollier link did not come through
Croc Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I think you got a great find. Excellent well preserved condition. Great color and details. Having the documentation with it is amazing - I have never seen an S3 owners manual before. Linking some of @jbcollier 's photos from the link to save the lazy ones clicking through
IamScotticus Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) The flat front face of the air filter is unique. Has anyone seen these and the elements elsewhere? Edited December 5, 2022 by IamScotticus
jbcollier Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 I have been doing a lot of googling of Lotus Sevens and I found two other cars pictured with the same air cleaner. There's nothing to "wear out" in these wire-mesh "filters" so I suspect it is original.
jbcollier Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Croc, the "owner's manual" -- it's actually a mishmash of an owner's, parts, service manuals and a self-help book. It's not very thorough at any of them but it is a lot better than nothing. This one is a reprint from Redline (says so right on the cover). There's pdfs of original copies in the USA7s download section. The missing piece is the Ford 2250 engine manual and you can find that here: http://www.varen4u.nl/pdfs/ford/ford_2250.pdf
