Vovchandr
Trying to win something on eBay but the seller is refusing to ship to US. If I can ship to your address and you can ship here I'll compensate you for the trouble. Thanks

das76
Maybe try Chris at Redline? Assuming you’ve bought stuff from him before he might be open to that. Or any other UK places you’ve bought parts ?

Thanks Did you buy something and happen to ignore the "I will not ship internationally" notice on the item for sale? What is it? Is it small enough for me to carry it onto a plane or would I end up in security for trying? I am there in the week of May 22 for work and a track day - the item could be shipped to my Caterham in Stratford and I carry it home. However, I never check luggage on flights so it better not be liquid or big. Alternatively, you could: 1) Look up Mail Boxes Etc in the UK and contact one of the nearest branches to set up a Fedex/DHL/UPS pick up of the item and then ship to you. 2) Contact Fedex or DHL and do the same. I doubt they will do it as you need to be physically present to sign the US importation paperwork - its a terror security requirement.

I frequently browse UK listings and reach out to sellers if they don't list shipping to US to see if they would make an exception. I appreciate the offer but unfortunately I don't think you're fitting a set of wheels on carry on. This definitely qualifies as "big". PS you do all this travel without checked bags??? I admire that. Redline Chris got back to me. He's baffled at the retirement comment and has no plans to do so. He did follow my train of thought in regards to bringing his son into the business possibly making me think that he might be on the way out. As of right now Chris will likely be my avenue for this. Thanks again to all.
SENC
I frequently use transglobalexpress.co.uk - you can arrange for them to pick it up, all the seller has to do is pack it and print the packing label you send.
IamScotticus
I am the one who made statements that Chris may be retired, based on some comments over FB messaging. My impression was we would be semi-retired staying involved in the business on the back end more with his son to run the front end. I didn't have a timeline for this but Chris was incommunicado for many for a very long time. Maybe things have changed? Maybe he took a long vacation? Im glad hes back, but I have yet to hear from him myself for my most recent inquiries, Apr 15. Im in the same boat, needing a part from a seller (Rally Design) who refuses to sell to USA and Canada. Already sent Chris a request for this but, nothing. I assume he is very busy with UK orders. Edited April 30, 2023 by IamScotticus
slowdude
Hey All, If this is still happening in about a month or so (not ideal), I might be able to have items forwarded to my address in Germany from the UK, then I can mail via DHL (just as a heads up it's super freaking expensive), but if it's not a massive massive box, it shouldn't be a problem.
das76
With Brexit now in effect isn’t shipping to Germany the same paperwork / headache as shipping to the USA?

My understanding is a lot of vendors in the UK won't ship due to paperwork and cost of it going to the US. The past few years it was certainly the same logic. I see a lot of places that will only ship within the UK or continental Europe. If it's the only way to get a part that's slowing down a build, it makes sense. Otherwise you are right. IamScotticus
My understanding is it is a liability issue the insurance do not allow. Here is a recent quote from Rally Design: "we are not able to ship to USA due to insurance restrictions". Part of the problem may be laziness, avoiding the extra customs declarations, etc. Edited May 2, 2023 by IamScotticus
Croc
@IamScotticus Yes thats part of it. Their business liability insurance will be MUCH cheaper if they de-select certain markets. But thats only part of it as the bureaucracy of paperwork for US Customs (or EU now) is also a major factor plus they do not have to deal with fractious customers complaining about sky high shipping charges. Drakman
I am in the middle of the same issue, i am buying a set of rims (no tyres) from a guy in the UK. I was just in the UK 2 weeks ago but didn't see his wheels so now i have to explain to him how easy it is to ship to Australia! When i was in the UK i bought an exhaust system and a set of 620r bilstein coil overs, i wimped out with the exhaust and got Caterham to ship it. The coilovers i got a price from one of the international freight forwarders, 402 pounds to ship to Queensland, Australia. I took the coilovers into a Royal Mail post office (packed in two boxes) and posted them for 155 pounds. The best bit is both the coilovers and the exhaust arrived in just under a week. I wont see them for another 3 weeks, i am still in Turkey. I wasn't expecting them to arrive so soon. So if you can get the people in the UK to use Royal Mail, Global Express it is quick and not so crazy price wise. 1
