Series 2 Front Hub

I am lucky to have two Series 2 7s that I vintage race. I recently had the 1966 one on the track and the front hub gave out as the bearings hadn't been seated well.

I need to find new aluminum hubs to replace them (might as well do both and the bearings). Can anyone recommend where I would find these for sale?

Good to check. I think it is just an aluminum version of the standard triumph herald and spitfire hub. Less likely to damage the iron hub with bearing changes. Aluminum on backorder: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-146479A

You can also get them drilled for the ford pcd as set with forged axles, but also out of stock.

If the hub is just gouged in the bore from ham fisted bearing changes and the outer bearing race is not a good fit anymore, a machinist could weld up the gouges and remachine the bore. Some won't do automotive work and it may cost more than new, if you could get them.

Greater dimensional changes from brake heat with aluminum too and little to be gained. You might consider a standard hub if all else fails.

Is it not just a simple matter of replacing the bearings and races?

Unfortunately the back of the hub disintegrated. The aluminum is pretty chewed up. I did buy a set from SpitBits but the bolt pattern is not the same. I need to measure aand ensure I get the correct set.

You were at Black Hawk last weekend, right?  We talked, and I have the polished Mallock.  Meant to suggest you post here, glad you found the site!

Steve

Yes. Thanks for stopping by my car and talking. I enjoyed watching you on the track.

I am not sure these will fit, but Caterham sells a Heavy duty kit that includes new bigger axles, sealed bearings and aluminum hubs. I have them for my car and it uses Spitfire spindles. the part number is HUR2003K
