PortRS
A small stone hit, and I have this 1/2” damage on my windshield. There is a shallow 1/8” rough area on the front surface. Should I buy a repair kit and do it myself, or have it done professionally? I don’t care about the defroster since I won’t be driving in those conditions. Thanks for your advice. 7Westfield
I'd let a shop do it. If you have comp insurance, it may be covered.

bball7754
FWIW, when I bought my 1998 19 years ago, it had several chips in the heated windshield of similar size. I’ve never done anything, and they have never grown. Although I probably just jinxed myself! 😊 YMMV Steve Edited November 3, 2023 by bball7754
IamScotticus
Who would be interested in a Gorilla glass group buy?
Vovchandr
You want to look better or be gone? Kits are about $20 and will make it look better. Professionals can likely make it look gone for like $50? Worth calling around Or do what I do and buy two windshield replacement from UK, have both come in broken and just swap to aero screen and forget about windshield Edited November 3, 2023 by Vovchandr
wemtd
or... save the windshield frame and find an independent glass shopt to cut & reassemble with laminated glass. you loose defrost but so far works good as new.
IamScotticus
remembering other posts about glass shops, apparently the 7 glass is a non standard thickness. some glass shops have been able to get it, some not. YMMV Yes, I have plans for my aeros. When I paint the 7 RAF green in Sopwith Camel livery, with a faux Vickers gun on the scuttle. I will use the aeros for that. When im old and batty enough to go through with it. Edited November 3, 2023 by IamScotticus
