Now available: new high level indicator + brake lights!

I am remiss in posting my good experiences with these high level LED brake lights on my new monster, Kato.  I installed them vertically on the uprights for the cage same as Slonie.  I spec’ed mine to act as just brake lights.  
 

The only catch was the wiring connector plug was something completely different to the choices offered, reflecting that this car has been bastardized one too many times.

I wavered between the brake only and the running lights with brake.  The majority of my driving is daytime where it’s a moot point.  
 

if I am driving at night or in poor weather (rarely) I welcome the added visibility in general and the brake lights are brighter than running.  For me it’s the right approach but I see the other side of the discussion.  
 

either way you go I think the added safety and visibility is a smart play.  

 

At one point I was worrying about full hood reflections. And designed a ground switch in the boot which would disable them. But didn’t end up wiring it up since I have yet to drive with the full hood on.

All good food for thought here. I guess my MO from might be to drive with running lights in the hills UNLESS I'm in a group drive in which case somebody will be following me more closely, know I'm there, and need to see my brake lights. Likewise with around-town driving.  For regular drives in the hills there's unlikely to be somebody following me closely so it's okay.

 

 

Of course, none of this addresses the front half of the car, with dim halogens and turn signals that are incredibly weak if my lights are on (off-topic for this thread but definitely my next electrical investigation)

 

 

Finally, If I really need maximum "fog" conspicuity I can always turn on my backup lights 

(two bicycle lights, if only I could wire them up as brake lights!)
