Billy Posted yesterday at 02:48 PM Posted yesterday at 02:48 PM Hi Fellas i have an elderly relative who needs to sell his car. I know little about the car except that it is a Birkin the spec is the following: Ford Focus Engine 2.0 Trans: Merkua 5 speed. Toyota rear axel GTS 788. Toyota rear disc brakes. Front are VW. The car was set up for track use only and is not road legal. It is at least 20 years old. I am trying to figure out a reasonable value and I’d be grateful if anyone has any ideas? many thanks.
JAL Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM Posted yesterday at 06:15 PM Hey Billy l am looking for a project 7 may be interested. New to the site so I not really sure the ways to communicate. Would be like to see a few pics if possible. Thanks,Jeff
11Budlite Posted yesterday at 07:32 PM Posted yesterday at 07:32 PM (edited) The value will depend a lot on the year, specs, and condition. My old 2001 Birkin had a stamped section on the left chassis tube in the engine compartment (circled in the attached photo). Mine was BIY1899 IIRC, so that would correspond to the 2001 model year. If it has the Toyota live axle then it's an older chassis before they went to IRS. Not sure of the year when that happened, but I think it was sometime around 2010. Also, if it was set up for the track there were all kind of mods that were available during the 2000-2010 time frame when I was building my car. Do you have any photos of the Birkin? That would help determine a reasonable asking price. Edited yesterday at 07:33 PM by 11Budlite 1

JB455 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I believe that mine is a 2002- it has a pad there with a 17 digit VIN/frame number. The same number is stamped at the base of the roll bar, as well- though it has a state assigned VIN that was used on the title. I agree that detailed pictures would help with establishing a value.
Croc Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Photos are needed to understand condition and spec better but comparable asking prices for older Birkins in the classifieds thread would have you in the low to high teens range. The range will narrow based on condition, readiness to drive, etc. As you get newer, the prices rise into the 20s, 30s, etc.

I think the Birkins with a 17 digit VIN came in as a rolling chassis, whereas the cars with a 'BIY' prefix (build-it-yourself) were built from the different group kits described here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/so0hj3yk89xhqjpsd4wcq/ACoFhnVRUQrJh41aILMdWhQ?rlkey=t54k2j4iu7x15i2hpd0owu7uk&e=1&dl=0 I think my Birkin was stamped BIY1899 at the base of the roll bar as well. 1
