As of this moment, no... but I'll keep that thing around. It will come in handy. The freaking thing is so bright, it has got to be useful somewhere.

I figure between the laptop (with power supply), wiring, and the mobileVu, that stuff probably weighs 15-20 lbs. The DashDaq weighs less than a pound. I'm gonna try it and see if I can live with it. Otherwise the MobileVu will go back in.

All this ragging on my porker by Busa has gone to my head :D

What are you going to do when we get lost in West Virginia?

I'm beginning to believe that it's impossible to stay ahead of you! Maybe I can win in traction control or active suspension.

You already have some forced induction goodies on there

  • 4 months later...

Finally got the dash mounted. Wheel diameter is 320mm ( 12 9/16" or so) - kinda reminds you of a bus you once drove, huh?

Adding more context, the steering ratio is 14 1/2 : 1; i.e., turning the steering wheel 14 1/2 degrees causes a 1 degree movement of the front wheel axis.

Just from the numbers, it looks like I could use a smaller diameter wheel. Is there a good source for reasonably priced (smaller) steering wheels besides e-bay? I think this takes a std Momo mount.http://www.usa7s.org/aspnetforum/upload/1245964468_dash_b03.jpg

Tackling an upgrade of the steering system I opted for a smaller wheel. SPA 270 mm, suede. Good price at Continental Motorsports. Woodward QD hub cured the rattle problem of the old one. Had to relocate Oil pressure and Water temp gauges.

I think mine is a 13” Momo, stock Birkin wheel.

One of the folks on the Birkin site made up some very short steering arms that are great. I no longer need a spinner for close fast turns. I do miss the pin-up photo in it though. Once the car is in motion, you hardly notice the loss of the long arms in steering force. It tracks very well into the triple digits also, not noticeable twitchy. You don’t want to take your eyes off the road while driving though.

That would be an interesting one (Ferrari 2008 F1 steering wheel):

John,

Just saw your dash picture. I'm curious about your gauge placement because my dash hoop on my Ultralite runs right through the middle of where your tach is placed. I dont think your speedo placement would work in my car either. Did you modify this, or??? Would like to see a picture from the back side.

Wow, build started in 2005??? I was feeling bad about how long mine is taking. I started in November 2007. Thanks for making my day. :)

Mike
