Driving in cold weather

If you had a choice when driving @ 25 deg in a 7 with just a windshield, would you rather drive 70 and just get it over, or drive @ 45 and take more time? I get cold just thinking about either!

Harbor Freight has a small portable generator that will fit in the passenger foot well and will power an electric blanket for about 6 hours to keep you warm with your snowmobile suit and gear on under the blanket.:D  :D

Out here in SoCal we have to worry about heat stroke and dehydration when out in our car and not freezing. Low last night was 53 degrees and the high was 72 with dry wind from the North East (Santa Anna's) but tomorrow we are suppose to have some rain which we definitely need but will have traffic all messed up due to not having a lot of the stuff.

Sounds like I need a trip to SoCal.

We hit a high today of about 0 degrees F and it's suppose to dip down to about -10 tonight.

Then again we are suppose to get up to about 45 on Sunday. I wish the weather would make up its mind.

I've ridden my sled in -40 temps before no problem, but you obviously have to be dressed for it. Don't think I'd fit in my Birkin with all that gear on though.

Time to get back to work on the car. It's comfy in the garage.

I think I would find it easier to drive 70 in 25° weather than to drive 25 in 70° weather. Actually, I lived where there was 25° weather, and found what was nicest was to to drive a U-Haul outta there! :)

I've been trying to get my car painted. The body man started today so will not have the opportunity to drive it this Saturday. Am I wimping out?

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

  • 8 months later...

Ahhh, a nice crisp ride this morning...leaves should be turning colors soon.

Whcih gets me to thinking, after over 5k miles and 5k smiles of our fist summer of se&en ownership..

How the HECK are we going to be able to deal with NOT driving it for a few months??

Does anyone make a huge car treadmill with big 360 surroundscreens that perhaps shows films of awesome roads while you "drive":7drive:

Living in Montana means cold for much of the year. I really like driving my Seven in the cold and use it routinely down into the 20's. I put on a down jacket and use the side curtains and I'm a happy camper. I love the feel of the cold air on my face and it's so quiet and crisp.

I wouldn't change a thing.
