Al N.
Bruce- Thanks for linking. I don't get to the Simple Sevens site much...though I noticed that John D. is the new US "area rep" for the UK L7 Club. If anyone knows John and thinks he'd be interested in our mixed marque forum/club, please give him a shout. Also, if anyone knows of any other Series 2 or 2 1/2 cars for sale, please post them up here. I have a friend who may be interested. -Al

sparecr
John D. is a diehard Lotus Seven guy, and if looking for a "real" Lotus Seven his site is a great place to start. Also some excellent info on Sevens history. He does not really care for any other LSiS car, however (cats included). www.simplesevens.org
Al N.
John V...that's what I gathered from visiting his site. As you may know, we had been considering having an official liaison to the UK L7 Club, but I guess they felt John D. may have been a better fit for their decidedly more marque-exclusive club. Oh well, you snooze you lose, I guess.

It might be worth checking... http://www.simplesevens.org/lillehamer.htm http://www.simplesevens.org/iriks.htm Bruce :7drive:
Al N.
I did...but I just think about John G's white machine or even Karl D's car and those cars aren't quite it. FWIW, John D. doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of that one British Car dealer in CT. Which is good news for me, considering i nearly bought a car from him back when I was looking. 11Budlite
"FWIW, John D. doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of that one British Car dealer in CT." I looked at a Bugeye Sprite vintage race car he had for sale back around 1990 and to me it was way overpriced for the quality of the car. I also talked to a couple vintage racers at LRP that were less than impressed with the cars they had just bought from him. He HAS been in business for a long time though, so he must be doing something right.... Check out this Lotus 7 (Birkin!) ad: http://www.newenglandclassics.com/index.tpl?action=inventory&id=387 Gee, do you think my Birkin is worth that much? I only have 450 miles on mine!! Al N.
This is the car I was considering a few years back... Series II Lotus 7 that Al didn't buy...
southwind25
ok...thats just a tad overpriced for a birkin, even with the zetec. i wouldnt pay that for one..and didnt (even though mine is a 1600 x-flow) and mine is way cleaner 1t 1300miles on the odometer (shameful yes we will change that this year) as reference...he's selling a bugeye racecar for 15k.... looking at the state of preperation and options of his, i should have sold mine just recently for about 20k! not 12k. not bad cars, but yes his prices may be a bit high. S1Steve
Hi, When I was looking for a 7 in 2002, that was the price for a new one, with a stock Zetec without any aftermarket TB. I like to know more about the " Alternate Computer Chip" 210- at 6500, 260 at 8000 rpm, WOW !!! On all motor, with no help from a Turbo, Supercharger,ect... I'd like to buy just the engine !!! Ian7
I dealt financially with the company in question. Fortunately was not a big loss, but enough to warn off others...
SevenAmerica
Hi kids, I'm John Donohoe of SimpleSevens.org... finally got logged on :-) I see some folks talking about me here... is there a better place for a proper introduction? The short explainer is that my fetish is for the old Lotus Sevens (I love history). I've come 'round to Caterham Sevens although I cannot take the time to add them to SimpleSevens (too dang many of them!!!) If I had come across a Caterham for the same money as my Lotus, I probably would have bought it. As far as the LSiS cars go, I am sure they are a blast! I only get cranky if someone tries to pass off a car for something that it is not :-) I plan no editorialising here, just happy to be aboard with more or less like mined folks :-) That all said, is there a breakdown somewhere of what numbers of which types of Sevens are signed on here? Cheers!
Al N.
John- Welcome. Here's a link to the "Tell us a little about yourselves" thread: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=168 That's a good place to do an "official" introduction. A word or two about this place: Of course the original Lotus cars are the inspiration for the entire hobby, but we all have our favorite cars here. The nice thing (IMHO) about USA7s, is that owners and fans of all the LSiS cars are welcome — we try to avoid marque hierarchy in our interactions...on or offline. The hobby is too small to get all caught up in that sort of mindset. FWIW, John Gault's gorgeous S2 won "Best Se7en" at the Tail of the Dragon meet, with a Stalker in the runner up spot. Although pooh-poohed by John Watson as a "Hollywood Production" (we didn't honor the exact date of the original 7 launch!), that meet was great fun for everyone who attended. And that's really what we're about here. Perhaps we'll see you at the next USA7s national in 2009? Or perhaps at LOG this year....many of us are members of the UK L7C and Lotus Ltd. as well. Again, welcome. Al
