supersportsp
Bump Loren, never got an update on how successful or "eventful" the race was. Hopefully it was better than this guy's...http://www.autoblog.com/2010/10/26/video-lamborghini-gallardo-twin-turbo-crashes-at-texas-mile/

7evin
Hey guys, Sorry for not getting this out to you guys sooner. Just spent 2 days driving and working on the car without any sleep. We installed the new supercharger Thursday morning and worked on the tune till 10 pm. We were unable to make the kind of power we were looking for. Only 410 to the wheels. We found that the fuel pump was not delivering enough fuel to keep up. We went ahead to the Tx mile anyways just to see what we could pull off. We ran just a bit under 170 mph. She was still pulling but we just ran out of room. I had to short shift it every run because the fuel pressure would drop. We found the bearing had gone out of the pump and caused a bit of wear inside the D rotor. We will make some changes and try again in march. It always amazes me how in a crowd of incredible cars these little cars have the biggest draw. The wreck above was off the hook. Thank goodness he walked away. He came by and visited with me for about 25 min the day before asking a bunch of questions about Mojito. He really liked the car. I had no idea who he was till he invited us to come over to his rig for BBQ that evening. Super nice guy. The little boy is Kenny Trans son..... Of all the amazing cars that come thru their shop Kenny said Mojito is his sons favorite.... (green is his favorite color)
Mondo
I can't imagine going that fast in my S2K... noticed you had just the front wing on. Did it handle well at speed?

Hey Mondo, It is a little exciting.... What we did was step into it slowly. 1st 2 runs were with all wings and elements next we lost the top element on the rear wing. Then the top element on the front. Then no rear wing at all. It wasn't to bad. The runway is very wide so you have allot to play with. Unlike a track where you are shooting for an apex. 7evin
Hey Guys, Its been quite some time since I have updated the progress with the car. To be honest we have been working night and day keeping our business afloat. Between taking a law suit with the FDA all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States and dealing with economy it has been a Herculean effort. It is very difficult to justify spending money on my passion when I can't give the families that work for me raises. At the Texas Mile we were able to pull off nearly 170 in the mile. Car was still pulling just not hard enough. We were loosing fuel pressure on every run. Rebuilt the fuel pump with spare parts, stacked pumps and tried all kinds of ideas. Bottom line we were having to short shift to prevent from going lean. Go lean and say good bye to the motor.... Shift point was supposed to 10,000 rpms but we were having to shift at 8500 to 8900. On a supercharged car rpm is directly linked to boost which is directly linked to HP which is directly linked to how fast you can go in a mile.... We were pulling off 142 mph in the 1/4, first 3 gears trying not to fry the tires. 4th gear we could pull right to 150 mph in just a little over 10 seconds, another 1000 rpms would have put us right at 170. Then came 5th gear short shift, rpm drop, boost drop major wall of air... She still pulled hard but not hard enough. At that kind of acceleration, speed and turbulence trying to watch the fuel air ratio as a shift indicator was a bit challenging. How do we fix it.... I buy a massive Weldon 2035 fuel pump... capable of 1300 hp. That was a bit over kill... It makes a hell of a racket and pumps 180 gph at 80 psi. Had to DE-throttle it quite a bit. Now time to re-tune. Load it up drive 700= miles to Texas and find out HKS pulled out of the US and did not update anyone's codes for tuning their after market computers... That was a long trip for nothing... I have been talking to a company locally called Top Speed about changing out the computer to the new AEM stand alone. I looks like what I have been looking for for along time. Other changes. We made some changes to the front suspension setup to get the car closer to the ground. I would really like to go back to the mile again next year and turn her loose again.

7evin
I am rather confident I will never buy anything from HKS again. I now have $5000 worth of ECM computers that there is no longer the ability to program. To leave their dealers/tuners/customers high and dry like this is beyond reproach. I learned... and now we all know.... LOL So if you see HKS computers for sale on the forum Buyer beware.. I am really digging the AEM stuff though 1 computer not 3 and cheaper. http://www.aemelectronics.com/engine-management-systems-9/

Toyotus 7
That's weird. I thought that HKS had only limited the official North American distributors down to 6 outfits; one in Canada and 5 in the States, not pulled out altogether. At least that's what I had heard as of this Spring. A friend of mine is the Canadian distributor.

At least that's what I had heard as of this Spring. A friend of mine is the Canadian distributor. HKS closed US operations a couple years ago. There are no official Pro dealers in the USA to service the VPro. All Pro dealers were required to return the Pro tuning module when HKS shut up shop. If you have a HKS VPro, unless you know someone who can get around this, you're out of luck.

I have gone to 4 different tuners and all of them are giving me the same story, that their dongle keys are no longer working. I have not checked in the last 3 months. Maybe it has changed. Toyotus 7
The list of Pro dealers on the HKS Japan Page is supposedly from April 2013? https://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/dealers/usa.html

As of 3 months ago they were still dead in the water with HKS Spoke to Forged, 6 months ago they were dead in the water also. They are 60 miles from me. Called again today. They have found a hack for the HKS dongle. He says best to dump it and go with the AEM. You get rid of a host of problems and it will save you dyno and tuning time. May let them give the HKS a shot. Thanks Toyotus.

7evin
You know, you may want to speak to NASA or the military on how to cram the most stuff in the smallest of places.... LOL.. That's funny.. I must say trying to squeeze 2 fuel tanks, 3 fuel filters and 2 fuel pumps in to this little car was a bit challenging.
