locostv8
If Hennessey is around you might ask him about the "Stock" green & silver Fox Mustang he ran on the beltline around Houston a few years ago in a blue Viper coupe, then duck.

RDROCKT
The schedule shows them at "Pasage Control' between 5 and 8 pm today. I would guess that they would be there on the earlier side of that time frame since they are frontrunners and probably will get done with their autocross early. BTW, autocross is scheduled for between 2 and 5 pm. As a note; although the organizers do a specially great job of making things happen on schedule, S*&T happens. Give yourself plenty of leeway. BobDrye
The disambiguation of one lap by Kevin and Michelle I’m calling Mojito The Trojan Horse. A person or thing that appears to be innocent or benign, but actually presents danger or harmful intent. This is not supposed to happen, a homemade car, no professional drivers, just a lowly seven. They’re in 4th place 10 points behind 3rd. In the morning run they were the fastest car on the track. On the afternoon run of the full track they were just a few seconds behind the fastest time. Kevin was going to walk around Beve Run with an instructor @ 7:00 this morning as he has never raced there. Mojito should do well in the final 2 days. Last year they were first on the skid pad. Could you believe that Kevin and Michelle could finish in 2nd place overall? Facts: A small bore car has never finished in the top 10 of One Lap. A woman has never finished in the top 10 of One Lap. At the end of the day with the trailer connected and everything packed and ready to drive to Beve Run, Kevin was transferring fuel from the trailer to Mojito and I noticed fuel leaking from it. Kevin crawled under the car and discovered that the fuel pump was leaking. We removed the fuel pump and after trying a number things we determined that the seal between pump and the motor had failed. They had a replacement seal, but no way to remove it. Kevin and I headed to Danville to try to find a shop that could remove the damaged seal. The local John Deer dealer removed it for free. We drove back to the track, installed the seal and headed towards Beve Run. I would like to let everybody know who the real unsung hero of this effort is! Michelle Kevin is a very fortunate man to have a wife/partner that is willing to make the sacrifices that are required. Kevin would be the first person to tell you if you think that he is an “Ironman”, that Michelle is even tougher. Thank You Michelle! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/8603517_257101034_PICT0268.jpg
WestTexasS2K
Good news to report Kevin got 3 in 1 and 2nd sessions at Beaver Run. When I talked to Michelle they had already run the autocross and he was currently 2nd. Most of the top 20 cars had already run so he should keep second unless there is a real good autocross car and driver not in the top 20. We should have a decent margin ahead of forth so a decent finish on the skid pad should keep us in third. A mistake by top 2 teams could bump him up. Bad news the new fuel pump seal installed yesterday is leaking again today. No bad but leaking still isnt good news. Hope they can make the transit drive with out much trouble. BobDrye
Loren: When we had the pump apart yesterday I inspected the parts and found brown deposits in the armature shaft where the pump seal is located. Years ago when did the weekly maintance on a sprint car I found the same deposits in the Hilborn system. Could those deposits be affecting the seal? We did not have a press to install the new seal, but we were very careful and used a socket and a c-clamp to install it. The placement of the seal looked correct. I could tell that the event had taken quite a toll on Kevin/Mich as he was not thinking as fast as he usually does. If I can help in any way let me know! powderbrake
I am in awe of Kevin and Michelle and Loren. Anyone who can endure the transits in all weather conditions, the mechanical problems, the grueling schedule, lack of sleep and stress of the situation has my eternal respect. These are the real Iron Men"

Loren: I think that the fuel pump repair kit is a maa-3165. Summit Racing has 1 in their warehouse in Akron. I placed it on hold order #4482413 in Kevin's name. It's 269 miles from Beaver Run. They are open till 9:00 pm. Possibly someone could pick it up and get it to Kevin? Do not assume that I used the proper part #!

WestTexasS2K
Bob it wasnt the fuel pump like they had thought. They just noticed spray on the back of the car and thought it was the fuel pump. The problem was traced to the crank vent tube. It appears that the check valve on the manifold that closes under boost is sticking and pressurized the block blowing the dip stick out and blowing oil down the vent tube. Car looks to be ok and with all the high reving over with just 5 or 6 hours of highway cruising and skid pad. They have 3 rd fairly secure. Just need to make it to Southbend and around a circle 6 times in decent time to hang on. 2nd seems to be out of reach unless 2 front runners run into some kind of trouble but we dont want that to happen. I think this is one of the highest finished ever for a kit car. So congrats are in order for the Organic Racing Teams success. Thanks for everyones support escpecially Brian & Jerri Anderson, Chuck Spera and Barb, and all those who came to the track and cheered the team on. Hope that we made the 7s community proud as we as a team are. It was alot of hard work and worth every minute of it. :)
Al N.
Loren- Thanks for keeping us posted on the exploits of Kevin and Michelle...a great read and inspirational to all Se7eners! I've only met Kevin and Michelle twice, but I've always come away thinking "Man, those are some of the nicest people." I remember driving to VIR a few weeks after the Dragon...when Kevin was guest driving the Deman...he and Dino were shaking down the SR27 on the access roads and when I pulled up in my TT, and rolled down the window, Kevin took a second to place my face, smiled and said "Hey, brother!" And Michelle doled out the rehyrdating fluids freely. Good peeps. Give them my best and tell them to fly the USA7s banner high if they had space to bring it along. -Al
gjslutz
What a day, we met Kevin and Michelle @ Beaver Run today. He was flying. He ended up 4th fastest for the event. Much faster times than some real fast & well done cars. The smile on their faces said it all. Looking in the mirrors at GT-40's and a Viper, as well as other cars on a road track said volumes about his skill and the 7 they built. Michelle is a real support person on their two person team, did I say she also looks great after 6 days on the road. What a wife! Gary

southwind25
Wow this is WAY awesome! I met kevin and Michelle in avon lake ohio at their checkpoint.. What a great couple! I figured they might want to just be left alone because of being tired,,but heck no they were both full of energy and took time out to talk a while with me. The car seemed to be running well and deffinitly stood out from the rest. Kevin and Michelle wanted to thank everyone on here for following their progress and was very thankful to all the well wishes along the way. it was dry while i was at the stop point, however if they headed east they probbly ran into the storm we got a bit later last night. http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/185938281_100_0087.JPG

Facts: A small bore car has never finished in the top 10 of One Lap. A woman has never finished in the top 10 of One Lap. ... Not to detract from Kevin and Michelle's most amazing and historical accomplishments (and I'm obviously an Ultralite fan), but one correction there, in the 2006 One Lap the Microsoft Xbox Project Gotham Racing team had Art Director Kiki Wolfkill and Game Design Director Chris Novak finish in 10th place overall in their Noble M400. Kiki is a woman and was co-driver. There was some television show about it on at some point, if anyone recalls what it was or where to get a copy please post. It seems like the One Lap could sure use more television or video coverage of some form.
