For those of you who attended the 7/7/7 meet, I'm sure many of you remember Bill and Marcy Power, who helped us so much in making the event a success.

I got word from Marcy tonight that Bill has been hospitalized since Monday with acute renal failure. He has undergone two rounds of dialysis, and is currently resting and in good spirits.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Bill and Marcy on a few occasions, and have always come away so impressed by their attitude towards life, and their pleasantness - truly special people.

I posted this with Marcy's permission to keep the greater se7en family informed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Powers. :blueangel:

For those of you who weren't at 7-7-7, Bill is the guy who made the Tamiya JPE model raffle a possibility. He's an expert model builder...like the kinds of models you see in cases at museums and hobby stores.

Here's a shot of Bill and Jen Rohaley (Mike's wife), with the built JPE safely loaded back into the box. Jen was the winner of the raffle.

It was our pleasure to meet Bill and Marcy at the TOTD last summer. One of the cool moments of the event was following Mr Wilson's Series 1 chasing Bill and Marcy's Caterham on the way to Fontana for the group photo shoot. Here's one of the many photos we took of the two of them "playing" on the twisty roads to Fontana:

We send our best and hope that Bill is feeling better soon.

encouraging update:

Hi everyone,

Marcy has asked me to e-mail you all about Dad. He is doing somewhat better. His Kidney biopsy went very well. He had no complications and was resting comfortable by three this afternoon. He will be skipping dialysis tomorrow so that the doctors can determine if his kidneys are beginning to work again. Dad and Marcy are pretty exhausted. The results from today's blood-work showed normal sodium levels and slightly low calcium. Dad thinks that he has lost about twenty pounds in fluid in the past few days, due to dialysis. He does look much more like himself.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

I'm late to this, but my thought go out too - be well, Bill.

Here's a happy pic of Bill and Marcy from 7/7/7

Great news re: Bill and Marcy

Bill’s kidneys are recovering. The biopsy showed a temporary problem called acute tubular necrosis and acute interstitial nephritis. The doctor is projecting that Bill will be able to go home on Wednesday, for which they are very hopeful. There will be no further dialysis and he is off the renal diet.

Marcy and Bill are thrilled with this news and celebrating and thanking God! They appreciate everyone’s good thoughts and many prayers, and are counting their blessings. The doctor said, “We caught a break this time!”

This is a great day :hurray:

Bill and I are deeply touched by the expressions of support and offering of prayers from the Se7eners. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. On Saturday, as I was despairing over the lack of progress, the nephrologist came in and said his motto is, "When there's urine, there's hope!" Today, I am wearing my new tee shirt, and you can guess what it says! Bill was sick for 10 days prior to hospitalization with flu like symptoms. He was diagnosed 7 days into the illness with a bacterial infection based on bloodwork not any apparent symptoms. When we went to the ER because he couldn't void, the docs were sure it was bladder obstruction. However, he had no pain or distension - only some fluid retention in his upper abdomen. It didn't take them long to suspect correctly that he had prostatitis. The length of the illness apparently caused dehydration and trauma to his kidneys. His blood work over the course of the first few days did not follow the normal pattern and caused the docs to suspect a much more serious condition. Thankfully, that is not the case. His kidneys are now clearing. I never thought I'd celebrate pee!!! A note to all you fellas out there. Our urologist said that prostatitis presents just as it did with Bill - viral symptoms with no hint of bacterial infection. Blood work is the only way to diagnose it. A word to the wise - prolonged fever and flu like symptoms should be checked out sooner rather than later. Better to hear it has to take it's course than you're in renal failure! Combine this episode with the bicycling accident Bill had in June which broke his left humerus at the shoulder, required surgical placement of a plate and 10 screws, and continuing therapy, and my friend said we need to apply for a refund of the summer!

Speaking of bicycle wrecks, Michael Dougherty and Karen Simmons are dealing with a very similar situation. Last weekend Michael wrecked and broke his clavicle requiring surgery. Our hearts and prayers go out to both of them as he commences his recovery.

Bill and I again say thanks for all your kind words. What a great group of folks to be affiliated with!!

Love, Marcy

Sounds like a very tough summer :willy:

The good news is around your part of the woods, there is beautiful fall weather, so try and get out and enjoy as much as possible.

Can Bill drive yet with the shoulder injury?

Bill drove the Caterham one day when I was at work - without my permission. Seriously, the shoulder is responding well to therapy, and he gains more strength and mobility each day - well, he did until the hospitalization. When he's been up to it, they continued therapy in the hospital. Many, many friends reminded him that he is safer on four wheels! Home TODAY!!
