Another Blatastic day!

Recommended Posts

Well, again this week I have the choice of Eagles Football or Phillies Baseball.

Nope just another perfect day for a Blat. Weather in Philly is around 68-70, sunny skies and the leaves are just starting to get some nice color. Perfect weather for Blatting.

Pretty much behaved myself, except for some poor guy in a red boxster who tried to say with me thru a nice downhill right left right sweeper. I waited for him at the stop sign, but he took too long to catch up. :7fume: Hope everyone has a Blatastic day. Tom

Hi back Martin. :) Yeah, I had the 911 out today too and the difference is amazing. The 7 is so quick, so light and the inputs are so minimal. The acceleration difference is Huge too. It's like the scene in Star Wars when they go to light speed. The Background just blurs.

The 911 is a nice big touring car by comparison. Only advantage of the 911 is that you don't get assulted by the wind.

The 7 is so much fun. I just wish I could leave the slicks on for the street. :)

Hi Tom,

I have an original 914-6 that I purchased new on June 7, 1970 and it out handles most street cars but not the 7 even on street tires.

Did not know you had a 911, what year and model. I have been a PCA member for more years than I want to admit. Second car I ever owned was a

I have been toying with the idea of getting another 930 just because I like that ruch when you push on the go-fast pedel and that with the way the market is their seems to be a number of them now on the market for the picking. I have also been looking at the New Cayman's as they seem to be very sweet with a lot of potential.

Wish I still had my 1973 RSR that I purchased new back then and sold to a Doctor in Media, Pa. in 1975. I have tried to locate that car several times in the past with out any luck but that is the way it goes.

It was one of I think 60 road going RSR's that were sold in the US at the time out of something like 165 or 175 RSR's produced by Porsche for the US and Germany. Only draw back to the car was the window lifts as they were leather straps with holes that hooked to a post so you could adjust the door windows for ventlation as it was a very basic 911 with a lot of the extra stuff remover to keep the car as light as possiable yet still be a street car. It is the only car that I regret that I have ever sold and I have owned a lot of cars since 1967 and a lot of Porsches to boot. Heck at one time my wife and I owned 11 Porsches at one time (9 yes 914's an 911S her car an a 930) besides our daily drivers. The neighbors use to complane when we had them all out and at the house...could never figure out why as it was a car show for the neighbor hood......Oh well life goes on and cars come and go at present we only have 7 cars for two people really dose not make sence but what dose today.

Martin, I live in Media,Pa. If the doctor was a young guy in '75 he may still be around. Can't say I've seen that car driving around though.

I bought a buddy's 2002 996 Carrera. He decided he needed a new one. His had 4500 total miles on it in six year. Still smells new.

Tom that is one nice 996 and a neat lift. Buy the way your 7 always looks so clean. Wish I could keep mine looking half as clean.

I have actually contacted the Widow of Dr. Harkins (I think his practice was in Coatesville) a longtime ago and she did not remember the car but their son did and he told me that his father had sold it in 1978 and that he did not know who that person was or where they were from. The VIN number dose not come up on any of the registries that I have been able to search so I figure the car must have been destroyed or is sitting in someone’s garage collecting dust. Oh well that is the way it goes and I don't think I could afford to buy the car back if I found it due to what they are selling for today. Last one I saw sold at over 1 million which is way out of my budget for a car unless someone dies and leaves me a large fortune which is very un-likely.

Morgan,

Glad to see you have Orange out for a blat. 500hp EXIGE definatly not stock and very radical and a hand full to drive onthe street I would bet.

Clean?!? There is a Cheeto on the driver's floor and spilled latte on the passenger seat!

Sorry, I'm just envious

I still haven't washed the deer poop off my Birkin's fenders from our NorCal tour a month ago :leaving:

That photo was taken last December, so the 7 hadn't seen much action in a month or so. And don't forget that the rear wings are my "good set" with the lights and new carbon wing guards. After I ripped the right one off a couple of times, I decided to get a set just for the street.

You should have seen them on Monday. I took the 7 out and the roads were still damp. I get to the restaurant and I look down and there are about 20-30 brown strings stuck to the wings.

SQUASHED WORMS!!!! :ack: Front tires threw them backwards. Good thing I keep my hands on the wheel, otherwise they would have covered my left elbow.

Had to hose them off as they smelled pretty bad inside the garage.:)

I wash and wax it once a year before I put it up for the winter. Takes about 15 minutes max. Gotta love a small car with no doors, no top and very small quarter panels. Tom

He stopped, waved and then took off.

He sometimes will stop and hang out for a bit, but he had two passengers in the car (car seats three with driver in the middle), so I imagine it would have been a small project to get out of the car LOL

MoPho,

What does your friend have to do to get nearly 500hp out of an Exige???

Or was that a misprint??

A big turbo and about $50k. It dyno'd at 459whp, and with all that he could not lose me in the canyons :D

He actually admits that it is perhaps too much power for the car

I've been taking Frankn7 out for 30-45 minute drives the last few days. I have not had any time to work on the body, so she's going naked.

I almost forgot how fun it is to drive her. Only complaint I have is that it's impossible to open it up and be a responsible driver at the same time :D

My wife and I took the Ultralite out to one of the local wineries yesterday. We had some wine, cheese and salame, and listened to the blues band. It was a gorgeous day, in the 80's, slightly cloudy. It was about 120 miles round trip, trees just starting to turn, and I could not imagine a better day in a Seven :D :d
