This is where I started from with my Caterham, a dealer built rolling chassis although mine didn't come with a transmission but I suspect this transmission could be easily sold if the new owner went with something else.

 

If someone checks the price, please let us know what it is.

This is basically the same set up I was thinking for a Birkin (If I go that way). I think to do a Birkin like that it would probably run you around $30K, no?

No, Some of us on here have had :banghead: experiences in the purchase of our cars/and or parts.

 

There are plenty of other good Dealers to do business with like Chip, George or the guys in Denver. IMO.

I have made many, many parts purchases from Chris T and never had a problem. He also built my car for the person who later sold it to me, and he had no complaints about Chris.

 

Since Chip is taking the time to share his knowledge here tho, I will probably start ordering parts thru him.

Well I gave Chris a call today regarding this and we had a good, long chat. He seems like a fine bloke, had a number of amusing 7 related stories to tell, and we discussed a few things about this car and my possible purchase of it. I am working out my finances for this, so if someone swoops in and grabs it before I do that's just the way it goes - my loss but someone elses gain.

 

I am working SERIOUSLY at getting the $$ squared away for this, though. Sure, I admit it's a bit pricier than I was wanting to start out with, but it looks like Chris has put in just about all the upgrades one might want already!

Not that these cars aren’t nice and all, I mean that’s why I’m lurking, but OMG, at $46K, plus engine and transmission, and I assume wheels and tires, you are looking at mid $50Ks minimum. At that kind of money the playing field really opens up… Hey if you got it flaunt it I guess lol.

I think you are missing the point. Caterham has a proven business model and customer base and growing market share. Go to Google news and enter Caterham and read about how in this economy they're the one company that is actually expanding. It's actually one automobile that makes better sense in terms of how little it depreciates in value compared to most others. How many vehicles do you know that demand $25k at 20 years old? Most 911 Porsche's, BMW's, or Mercedes can't even boast that.

 

It's great that the Seven can find support on many levels of income. If Caterham is out of your range don't knock the people that find enjoyment and contribute on that level. We are here (in this forum) to support and encourage the Seven.

 

Now I think I'll sit back and drink my stout while watching my favorite episode(s) of the Prisoner.
