scannon
Anyone imported a Seven from Canada to the USA? I wonder what the paperwork would be like since it is coming in as a completed, used car and not as a kit. If I were in the market, I'd want to have a good handle on that before I placed a bid. Ian7
99% sure you can't, as you have a "minimum 25 years old" rule for importing used cars (comared to our 15). probably have to break it down and ship in a bunch of boxes and "reassemble".
DavidL
Looks like its probably a 4-speed, old-style front suspension (ie, sway bar is also the top forward link), and therefore likely a solid-axle car. Man, I wish people would give the facts and specs instead of waxing poetic about the history of the Seven.
Ross
In 1999 I purchased a 63 Lotus Super Seven from Canada.....Arrangements were made to ship to Virgina using TFX International, Vehicle Transport Canada/USA. They took care of customs and the associated paperwork. It arrived in an enclosed 18 wheel truck. No problems.. was expensive....
twobone
Is $23K USD a fair price for this spec?
Ruadhd2
Anybody guess which company made them?
athens7
Those look like Caterham "Type-S" seats, available back in the day.
Croc
Those look like Caterham "Type-S" seats, available back in the day. Confirmed - they are Type S. When I was last visiting the factory I found you can still buy them from Caterham at about $1000 a seat. They are very comfortable but not at that price! Kitcat
Unless, Caterham prices have spiked up, $23K US seems a bit high, esp IF is solid rear, 4 speed. OTOH, it looks like new (repaint?) and well cared for. Interesting roll-over bar. Looks stouter than the stock bar tho less so than the Caterham FIA bar. RHD is a plus too, much cooler temperature wise, and puts you on the inside of the car wh/is nice at most US clockwise tracks. These cars are so narrow, I don't think its a disadvantage for the driver to be on the "wrong" side of the car as a driver. The $1K seats are steep but not as steep as my $1.7K Tillet and definitely more comfortable:).
twobone
Looks like all is a go. Signed the purchase agreement and now just wanting for emissions test. If I was 15 minutes later to the dealer (got there right at opening) the car would have been sold out from under me. There was a very grumpy european guy and his buddy waiting in the parking lot. I just hope the dealer does not try to pull a fast one on me. The dealer was surprised I did not try to flip it for a quick $2000....but this car is too special to me now. More pics once its on the road. Car was recently imported from Japan. Looks nice and clean. Looking forward to chatting sharing stories with you guys
Croc
Congratulations on your purchase Twobone! She looks lovely! Being a Japanese car it probably came from a fanatic so the car is probably perfect in everyway. Happy driving! RHD is a plus too, much cooler temperature wise, and puts you on the inside of the car wh/is nice at most US clockwise tracks. These cars are so narrow, I don't think its a disadvantage for the driver to be on the "wrong" side of the car as a driver. It will be easy to drive RHD on Canada (or even US) roads. Just takes a short period of adjustment and concentration. I drove an old RHD Jag across the US and apart from watching intersections and turns it was fine. You can also see a similar situation in the US Virgin Islands where they drive LHD on the left hand side of the road.
BrunnyS1
Lighting a candle and saying a prayer for your emms test. By the way, I think most LHD Caterhams of this year and back has the antiquiated multi lever hand brake not on the tranny tunnel but situated on the top of the right side foot well top and they did not flip it for LHD meaning that you needed 3 hands and a limber back for a hill start if you had a left hand drive car. twobone
Took all the jealous neighbors for a ride and managd a nice tail out oversteer. I am in love with this car! Bought it for $23,500 CDN which is about on par with the USD
