My first blat in Fejer 7 :)

Hey guys,

At the risk of photo whoring my car everywhere on this forum, I am going to just make one more dedicated post about my new car

Picked up this car after seeing its Ebay listing posted here, contacted the seller, had a friend inspect the car and then buying it sight unseen.

I've sat in a Caterham 7 about 10 years ago, seen a couple on the road when I was in Japan but I never had a chance to drive one until mine arrived. Got it plated last week and finally had a chance to go out with her last Thurs and again today.

First impressions: wow, this thing is RAW! I own a couple of other sports cars but nothing outside of a motorcycle prepared me for the pure viceral experience of being behind the wheel of this thing. I sit low, lower than even in my lowered NSX, and looking over my left shoulder I see the road rushing by underneath. My car is only powered by a 95 hp Toyota 2TC but the sensation of speed is incredible.

Appropriately my first outing (aside from meeting a friend briefly for a coffee last Thurs night) was a trip to Brittania Park here in Ottawa for the annual All British Car Show. I only had a couple of hours so I didn't enter my car in the show but it didn't prevent a small swarm of English car nuts from gathering around my car as soon as I pulled into the lot. Amongst them was a fellow who is currently building a homemade kit 7 who took a few pics of the car. I also ran into another gentleman who owns a Fejer 7 and is a verifiable historian on the marque. I learned so much from him in 20 mins about my car, including the fact that mine is a +4 model (wider and longer) than a standard 7. Cool. I also met his friend who told me he *almost* bought my very car 3 years ago and lost out due to travel plans. Wow small world.

Anyhow, here are some pics from today:

Raw, incredible sensation of speed, people swarming around the car-that is definitely the se7en experience! At least phase one.

Phase two? Upgradeitis!

If your NSX is any guide, this will be good:).

Congrats.

Yeah, I think "raw" is a good word to describe the experience. People have become so insulated from their vehicles it becomes quite an experience when given a ride.

Oyagi dont worry about whoring the forums with photos of your car and trips we are all guilt of doing it and its what most of us come to the forums for to share out passion for these cars and photos help with that. :smilielol5:

Never mind the neighbors and the talk around town, Be a whore, we dont mind at all. More pics, more talk about your experience with your new toy. Watch out for the pick up truck boys,, they just dont see us coming....not to mention the Semi's.. Lights on and finger on the horn.. Greatto hearthat you are driving her.:hurray::hurray::hurray:

You should take it to the Canadian Autocross Championship - this year it's in Saint-Eustache, QC.

Tempting but I have never done an autocross and will not embarrass myself by debuting in this event!

I'm more of a wide open track lapping kinda guy ;)

Oyagi once you do an auto-x you will look at a track lapping day as just another day of fun that wears out a set of tires but that is just my belief and everyone has to start sometime so go give it a try. :cooldude:

Check out mco.org (Motorsports Club of Ottawa), they hold autocross events at Scotia Bank Place. They're a very friendly bunch. :)

For a great nearby track day, check out 3BallsRacing.com. (They have more balls than we do:)). They have a date at Calabogie, not far from you 8/28-29. They emphasize fun and aren't as uptight as most track day groups. For instance, most groups wld not ok your roll-over bar. I doubt that 3Balls will care.I have done many events w/them, tho never Calabogie (too far).

Yup, I have 3Balls in my sights. Only thing is that weekend I might be out of town. I'm planning to do the CMP lapping day the Fri before 3balls. CMP lapping (their own in-house lapping club) charges the same as 3Balls for only one day at Calabogie.

BTW Bogie is a gorgeous track. Everyone on the east coast need to come out here and give it a whirl at least once. I've been there 3 times this year already in my NSX. I will probably do a short 2 hr lapping session there in early Aug with the 7.

I posted a vid of me chasing a real Lotus Super 7 in the vid forum a few weeks back...
