She fired right up

After 4 months of storage. Ok, it took a little cranking but I did not need to resort to heroic measures. And not even a puff of smoke! I expected the garage to fill with a white cloud. And no, it is not because all the oil leaked out of the various gaskets over the winter:). Ran like a top today. Starting my 5th season, averaging abt 4K miles per year, mostly local. What fun!

Good to hear, dying to get mine down off the blocks and see how she runs with the megajolt on board!! Doing a few more things as well, modifying the spare wheel rack so that it slide in and out, that way it can also be a luggage rack. Getting ready for the South Dakota trip.. larger gas tank is on the cards as well, and so on and so on .............We are only into our 2nd year, did approx 4K in her last year, should do well over that this year.

Just got back from my 180 mile run. Started instantly - no issues. Took the car north along the Hudson River, then under the George Washington Bridge at Henry Hudson Drive and kept going up to Newburgh across the river and then south. I got to go through my favorite tunnel on Rt 9 (three times! :D) before crossing the Hudson again and finding my way onto Seven Lakes Drive - going up and back just to enjoy the road. I had the road to myself, lakes were still iced up, potholes not too bad, even a wave from a friendly policeman.

The sitting in the cockpit of a seven in the sunshine is a nice cosy place on a cool spring day like today.

Cheers Mike

I too went for a nice blat around kentucky today. Although not as scenic as Croc's was in my old stomping groundp.

It is still great to be back on the road.

Put a little over 100 miles on my Seven today. It was in the 30s when I left and warm enough to remove my gloves and jacket by the time I got home. Odometer turned over 9,000 miles today but the car had about 1,500 miles on it before I got the speedometer and odometer working. The first miles were put on with a bicycle speedometer stuck to the glass on the Caterham speedometer. Problem with that was that the bicycle speedometer would quit working above 65 mph. I guess most bicycles don't go that fast. :D

If you went for a blat, your car must be done. Last I heard you had purchased a new Birkin kit from Dick Brink. That was abt this time last year. Photos? How do you like it?

Any interest in doing a track day? I will probably head to Putnam park racetrack some time in the next coupla months.

Mike - Let me know what Putnam track day(s) you're considering, and I'll try to join you.

I'm doing the MVP weekend April 16-17, assuming that my distributor makes it back from Aldon in England. It finally showed up after a month, but with an outstanding customs charge of 45 pounds. Aldon should have picked it up yesterday, and they will appeal the charge.

After a month, I'd pretty much written it off. Have plan B in motion (new Pertronix), but ordered it from Summit Racing (believe it or not) on 3/11, and they still don't have it to ship to me. May need to come up with Plan C. I'm having visions of having a non-functioning Seven the weekend of the trackday, and being the proud owner of 3 distributors the following weekend.

I feel your pain. I was having trouble getting needed radiator hoses for LOG 30 so ordered a set from Sevens & Elans, from Cat USA and from the place you used in England. Fortunately one set arrived in time and now I have a lifetime supply of spares:).

I will advise re my Putnam plans as they develop. I am definitely doing Mid-O w/ 3Balls Racing on Monday, 5/16, tho if it rains I will take my BMW. Wld be good to have another se7en there.

The car is brilliant!

Sadly, the Duratec does not sound as good as your car.

It's been running since august, but is not yet "Done" - if our cars ever are.

Right now i'm too lazy to drive to indiapolis, but will keep this in mind

Great to see the semi-finished product, looking good! I'd sacrifice some sound quality for your extra ponies. And, it's easier to add a racy muffler than graft on another 100hp. I try to make up for the lack of power by driving like a maniac, as you discovered on your test ride in my car:)!

Here's the perennial se7ens question- any idea what your car weighs?

Enjoy the weather, maybe we'll find a mid-point w/some great roads to meet up and race around together at some point?
