Greetings from across the pond

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

Just came across the hilarious comments here

about my car (which I bought from Caterham Cars in May) so I thought I would sign up and say hello.

So far I haven't had the cr4p beaten out of me or been tied to a lamp post but it's early days.

Maybe in 50 years my car will be seen like the 1958 Gibson Flying V guitar!

:D

Welcome... Don't mind us, as long as your happy.

If you visit this site often you'll find we rarely make negative comments/judgements on other's cars. I think as no one owned it at the time...

Though you should get a rollbar;)

Hi Guys

Good to hear from you.

No problem. Will probably put some of those comments on the car web site!

CC Kindly supplied the car with a white roll bar.

Steve, I can't quite make out your profile pic. Is that a 7 style Gorrilla you are holding?

Lambretta,

So post some photos of the car now and maybe a short bio on what all the spec's are on your very unique 7.

You will find that as a group we jest in fun but we all also like all forms of 7's and from time to time we will razz each other all in good clean fun just do not let Hank know you have a Miata like some of us have and you will not catch much flack at all. That being said if it were a Lambretta edition of a Miata you would really catch all kinds of jesting about that.

Hi Guys

Here are a few recent albums. If you don't want to wade through lots of car shots I think you should easily spot mine in the thumbnails:

Here, here, here and you get a prize for spotting it here but the vintage Lotus models in the last one are worth seeing.

Rog

PS I should mention that the super hand made Lambretta rear cover needs cutting out for the roll bar so Caterham kindly gave me a black one to keep me going.

So it is just the nose section of the passenger side in the photo that shows the nice Green 7 with the plate number L7 VLR.

Thanks for the photos of all the Lotus's.

Yes sorry about that. It was an evening of socialising, burger and sausage eating and drooling over many cars. I was probably the most conspicuous snapper there, but even I had to draw the line. Yes I really should have paid more attention to that one. Next year maybe!

Welcome Rog, enjoy your unique car!

Martin spotted it there, but I also see the white rollbar and red spare tire cover/doors in the background of the 2nd photo with the two blue Elans.

Some pretty rare cars in the Malcolm Ricketts photos. Besides the MK6, MK9, Eleven, and 18, there's the Tony Bates modified fastback Elite (very nicely done!), the Type 56B P&W turbine powered F1 car (only one made, although there were some Type 56 Indy cars made), the Type 58 F2 car (only one made - the same chassis appearing as a F1 Type 57 with a Cosworth DFV), the red Europa GS which had modified front and rear bodywork of which only 8-10 were made, and the blue Elan estate which I believe only a couple were built.

And I must be getting old but when I look at the picture of the light blue Elite parked next to the 340R I just can't get past the fact that some of the modern designs are just plain ugly!
