Robroymcbinson Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Yeah.... they just dont do the roads here in the USA like the UK. Also, Mr. Plod is just too serious here.
jfgw Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Zuspiel, I actually drive the car on the road 99% of the time - I have only done 2 trackdays at Mid-Ohio in the car. Without the screen, roof or doors, you really don't hear the straight-cut as much as when the weather equipment is on, so that's not a big deal. The sequential box also feels like a thoroughly engineered unit, which is very enjoyable to use, even when 'pottering around', with the ability to provide breath-taking acceleration when the opportunity presents itself. The car is also pretty docile at low revs, and because of the torquey nature, doesn't need to be driven above 4000 rpm just to run smoothly like a lot of more-peaky engines. I don't have the normal Caterham seats - I replaced them with the tillets a few weeks into ownership of the car, and love the tillets - surprisingly comfortable as you don't move around at all! Good luck with your search. James
zuspiel Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 James, thanks a lot for the info! Good luck with the sale!
jfgw Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 Bringing this back to the top following some discussion in the General Discussion forum
dssbrown Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 James: Prospective interest in your Vauxhall Caterham. Can you please provide contact details to discuss the car? Thanks Doug Brown Tuxedo Park, NY #845-351-5443
jfgw Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 It has occured to me that I have a very wide range of price on this thread, so wanted to update this to let anyone who is interested know that I am looking for offers >$50k. I am not in a hurry to sell the car, and am looking forward to enjoying it in 2012, but will sell the car for the right bid. Thanks, James
jfgw Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 All, with a heavy heart, I need to announce that my Caterham has been sold . Good news though is that the car is going to a very good home and a fellow member on this site, who I will let introduce themselves in their own time. The real question though is how long I will be able to last without a 7.....
tomatva Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Somebody got a very quick car. 1.39 at MidO isn't bad....
dssbrown Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 For the record, I have become the new steward for the Caterham Seven that James Wheeler recently sold. The Caterham Vauxhall will be a book-end to a 1962 Lotus Seven America that I also own. Quite the contrast in the progress of technology! Doug Brown
yellowss7 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Congrats on the new addition Doug. Maybe you can bring it down to NJMP in June and join us. I think Redgoose and Blubarisax are from around your neck of the woods. Tom

blubarisax Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Doug, glad to know there will be another Caterham in our neck of the woods. I'm Karl and live in Mahwah. I think you may have seen my car in bits at Radical Motorsports. With a whole lot of luck (and pestering Bert) I'll be at the June NJMP track event. Welcome, I'll watch for you on the roads!
Croc Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Congratulations Doug on your "new" seven. It is good to see another one in the local area. You are in a perfect location for driving.
dssbrown Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Hey Guys, Thanks for the initial welcome! Look forward to connecting with everyone in the metro NY/NJ region. Will not be able to make the NJMP event in June due to business commitments. Finally, Karl, I recently saw your R500 at Radical Motorsports; awesome car! Regards, Doug
