I showed up this morning for a members trackday, and what do I see as I pull in? A shiny metallic Green R500:drool: I think it must be Ron's (redgoose) Sure enough it was. It's BEAUTIFUL. Unfortunately, it was not a Qualified guest day so Ron had to run in the No Passing Novice group for the day, so I didn't get to video him on the Lightning track.

We are both doing Thunderbolt tomorrow, and Hopefully they will let him move into the intermedidate group although it will be his first time on TBolt so they may not.

The 2.0L duratec seems to fit nicely in the S3 (narrow Chassis) HMMMMM!!!

Today was another beautiful day at the track. It started out poorly for me. I left the car in the trailer overnight and in the morning temp was around 44F. First heat was scheduled for 8:45am and I get all buckled in and turn the key and it turns over a few times but fails to start. After about 4 attempts, it is barely turning over. NOT Good. Battery is about 3 years old. I walk away planning on bailing out and I went back and decided to give it one more try. Bingo! It starts, so I drove around the paddock for 20minutes or so and it was fine the rest of the day.

Ron got to run a few laps in the intermidiate group at the end of the day. He looked and sounded pretty quick. I think he said that they had him at 90 DB on track.

Great day all around except it was tough to get any heat into the slicks. I think these are toast after the next two days in November. That will put them up over 30++ heat cycles. I feel like I'm 4 wheel drifting out there.

Hi fellow race enthusiastes. I'M HOOKED. What great fun. Thanks to TOM for your help and making me feel right at home. After the 2 days I was feeling pretty comfortable out there. The car is a blast. Looking forward to nov 12. Minor damage to car, lost windshield washer bottle during run,,windshield stone damage,,front end now out of line (drifts to left). ALL IN ALLL, GREAT TIME..RON K

Ron, if that little stone hit didn't spread on the way home, make sure you call either AAA or safelight etc to have them come out and fill it in. It will save you the cost of a new windscreen.

Now that you are familiar with the tracks you will enjoy it even more. However, you have to watch out for those guys in the Sumo Versions,(Croc, and Karl) as they tend to take up more room on the track as we try to pass them. :seeya::driving:

Prices are slightly higher now assuming you can order one. I have been back ordered since July when I smashed mine up at NJMP.

However, this delay did inspire me to go aero - :cooldude: Reducing drag should make me faster. :D

Now how did the front end get out of alignment? Run off the road once or twice?

I think I have a washer bottle spare which I would be happy to sell on if you need it.

Thanks for the offers. Washer bottle was retrieved,no problem. Aliegnment is mystery. No off roading, but lots of curbs. Ralph in closter is taking me in nov 2 for complete overhaul. We shall see. Getting past in the straights when doing 125 is quit intimidating, but i love it. I just have to increase my speed in the straights, right ??

If your willing to give up the pre-wired "defroster glass" a good quality auto glass replacement business can cut and install a new windshield for less than $150. I delivered the cracked glass with the frame and a local shop replaced it with standard windshield glass for $130.

Drew:

I tried that, spent the $150, but the glass was too thick to fit the windshield frame. Not by much, but still too much. Maybe the newer Cats have different spec windshield glass than my '97?

Redgoose:

For a newbie, 125 mph in a se7en (especially a se7en), is plenty fast. As your comfort level increases, so will your speed. Don't force it or it wont be fun. And getting passed is part of the deal at track days, I have never had one where I wasn't.

Drew - I love your idea but none of the auto glass places would supply automotive glass thin enough to fit within the frame - same issue that Kitcat saw?

Ron - Anyone can go fast down the straight, its making good time through fast corners that sorts the men from the boys.

Check your auto insurance policy.

I found that my insurance policy had a glass clause. It covered sending a nwe windshield with stanchions overnight from England. No kidding.

They said that costs less than shipping any american windshield across Manhatten.
