2012 Sevens at NJMP trackday

Need to increase the number of low-hp Crossflows attending. :)

The Lightning circuit at NJMP is well made for Crossflows as you can still monster any car - demonstrated last year by Kitcat and Sabbot. Even if they get away on the main or back straights you are back giving them a colonoscopy at the first braking area.

Fortunately I am no where near as tall as Steve. I can get a good picture of me at Summit Point with my helmet on that shows the hoop is above my helmet if needed.

Steve, hope you can join us. However, I disagree with Croc, I think TBolt is the track where you can get blown away by the big HP cars down the front and back straights and still be on their tails by the begining of the front straight. The back half of TBolt is very twisty and plays to our cars strenght.

Up to 11 potentials in 24 hours, not bad. We just need to get Mazda, and Al motivated to get their cars done and join us. Oh, and I'm sure Boxologist will become a track rat and give up Autoxing once he stops being a chicken. Right Box? :jester:

I can see us potientially getting to 15++ cars on track with a little luck.

Only five more months... to get your cars ready and clear your schedules. Come on Mazda and Al. Speak up.:seeya:

I have a yellow & carbon fiber 2010 Duratec Stage 2 Birkin and intend to be there. I live near Limerock in Connecticut and will arrive on my own wheels. Only driven Lightning once and never Thunderbolt. Looking forward to being there and meeting you guys.

Excellent! Another hardcore car guy like me who believes in driving himself to the track! :D

My Birkin's builder faithfully ripped off the 40th color scheme (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, etc.).

Tom: In visiting the SCDA website I see they offer a 10% discount to the featured marque. Any chance of getting the generic "7" nominated? The 2 day cost of the event is a hefty (tho fair), $550 so every little bit helps.

Just heard from another Seven owner out in State College Pa. Jim, has a Caterham SV and he has convinced the wife that this is a MUST Do event.

He will be joining in on the trackday fun in June. :hurray: We still haven't heard from all the potential Sevens drivers in the area yet. We have 15 sevens expressing interest in attending and at this point, 13 are drivers. I honestly think we have a shot at close to 20 sevens. Come on guys Step up!

Crewst, your S1 roll hoops are ok by SCDA standards as long as you head is below them. I checked with Ian last year and he ok'd it for track use.

Tom

I am fairly certain there's no chance of my head being below the hoops. I'm not as tall as Steve, but still think I'm too tall. I will check to be certain.

Status: hope to spectate, slim chance to race. :-)

Thats right we all signed up in intermediate group and ran together. Ian Prout (the organizer) was keen for us all to be together and it worked surprisingly well. Speed differential for the sevens was fairly close. It was only that blasted Infiniti that was the mobile chicane! Register before May 25 and save 10%.

Tom monitors the sign up rate to make sure we do not get left out. So I would not sign up urgently - you have time.

Like Karl, I want to keep up with Mike (Kitcat) too!

How is the sign up rate going? Any estimate on when would be a good time to sign up? Can anyone give me information on reserving the rooms at the track and when to reserve them too?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave, I was going to revive this thread, in a week or so. I think that if we start to register in the next week or so we should be good. I'll give Ian at SCDA a ring and check in on the current signup rate for the intermediate run group.

As for places to stay, the track has 20 Suites at Thunderbolt that work great. You can reserve one on line on the NJMP website. That's where a bunch of us stayed last time. There is also a new Fairfield in in Vineland that is also close to the track. I forget where Karl has stayed in the past. Karl?
