Guest Terry Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Had an interesting deal last week. Guy called me from Vancouver asking me if I wanted to buy a 1967 Lotus 7 S3, first think that puzzled me was the S3 never came out till the fall of 1968. After some back and forth I drove to Vancouver bought the car. In my investigations I discovered that this car was the 1st S3 made chassis number SB2311 all matching numbers and original frame AM25. Although at some time it has been fitted with Caterham wings, the original Lotus clam wings come with the car. Sold the car to a Lotus 7 collector in the UK, so the cars going home, best place for it I thought. The other interesting fact is that it was owned by Gilles Villeneuve Formula Atlantic mechanic.
DeanG Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Those wheels just seem to go with the 7. Most other wheels just don't look right to my eyes.
danilo Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Makings of a Nice 'buy' story. Sadly.. just another Flipper/ Profiteer.
ayseven Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 What's wrong with enjoying yourself and making money at the same time? He's a broker/car salesman who fills a void in the marketplace. It's about getting your products to the market, which most people have trouble with.
Ian7 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 .... Sadly.. just another Flipper/ Profiteer. +1 (yes, other opinions may vary)
twobone Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Hmmm...I'm sure some money was made, but then again the seller contacted Terry likely knowing that Terry had access to buyers to facilitate a quick sale. If this is an important car, then it is a good thing it is going to a UK collector so it can hopefully be showcased publically to an audience where the importance of "1st" S3 will bring the most oohs and ahhs. Just providing a counterview
bball7754 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 The Seven needs to get over to the UK ASAP. http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=220641
11Budlite Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I want to see more of them stay in the states!
S1Steve Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 That would have looked good sitting next to the S1.
Guest Terry Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Makings of a Nice 'buy' story. Sadly.. just another Flipper/ Profiteer. Wow
lancylad Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Would have done the same thing given the chance...nothing wrong with making a few dollars.
Guest Terry Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) Makings of a Nice 'buy' story. Sadly.. just another Flipper/ Profiteer. A thought for all our non-profiteering friends. The Gas station makes a profit out of you The Grocery store makes a profit out of you The clothes store makes a profit out of you The tire shop makes a profit out of you Must be tough being that angry :nopity: Edited August 23, 2012 by Terry
Kitcat Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Terry-But we are supposed to LOSE money on cars (I know I always do:)).
Guest Terry Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I can tell you for a fact that I have lost countless $ on bad deals, hopefully at the end of my life I will be on the right side, never the less it's fun doing business and seeing happy people, having found their dream car.
