yellowss7
This past weekend was the last of the member days at NJMP and Croc, JBH, and I hosted Kitcat and Blubarisax for two days on the Thunderbolt track. As in the past, we had a blast. Karl, (blubarisax) showcased his new Paddleshift set up, Mike M. (KitcaT), brought his new race prepped Caterham, and Jeff, (JBH) in addition to his SuperlightR brought his new Spec Boxter. Weather was a bit chilly, 30F in the morning for the first session each day and and the combination of cold track, cold tires, "I'm cold, I forgot to button my coat" excuses led to a few gardening and landscapiing forays.:jester: The temps came up to the mid 50s by midday and the fun on track contiued. I think a few of us had cameras mounted so I'm sure we will share some of the track footage once we unpack. A few bottles of wine, some nice Scotch, a year end party and 5 Caterhams on track made for a very festive weekend. We were already talking about the 3rd annual 7's gathering at NJMP in the spring. We are hoping the turnout will continue to grow. Box, Stig,Mazda and Al, get working on your courage and or cars. Tom Edited November 19, 2012 by yellowss7
The Stig
Sounds like you had a good time, waiting for the pics/video. Weather was pretty good. Just seen the article in Low Flying today. Well done for getting the coverage Croc!
Croc
...the combination of cold track, cold tires, "I'm cold, I forgot to button my coat" excuses led to a few gardening and landscapiing forays.:jester: Excuse me, but cold tires and my forgetting to button my coat had nothing to do with me turning my Caterham into a Caterpillar dozer by shifting a ton of dirt on the left side of the back straight. And I am pretty sure Kitcat's tires and coat did not play a role in him digging up the right side of the back straight in his John Deere tractor! However, I do believe cold tires played a role in Blubarisax looping his car at the entry to the Jersey Devil on the "warm up" lap! oops! But all credit goes to JBH for his remarkable composure and grace when his partner tried his "new" Boxster out on the track and christened it with a credible half spin and reverse pike into a wall! (they will buff out!). Sounds like you had a good time, waiting for the pics/video. Weather was pretty good. We will keep a spot open for you Martin next year! Being the closest to the track is a huge advantage for you. Video is lined up for editing on my 19 hour non-stop flight to Singapore in 3 hours time. blubarisax
Guys, thanks for putting it together! I had a great time, but was disappointed that the professional instructor that took out my car at the end of the weekend could not lap Mike and Tom. And he was drifting through the octopus. yellowss7
Karl, he must have been getting close because after the first lap when I tried to keep ahead of him, figuring he was just learning the car, you guys blew by me so fast and put so much distance on me down the back straight that I was sure you guys would have lapped me at least twice during the 25 minute session. You must have told him to back off a bit. :jester: Big discusion going on over on Blatchat about your Sadev/paddleshift set up. Seems to be the "in" thing in the UK now. Happy Thanksgiving Tom
Kitcat
Yes, a good time was had by all, especially me since my car didn't break down for once(tho my trailer did on the way home). We also had some se7en owners spectating, including SteveS1 and Jack who has a Caterham that's undergoing some repairs. They also helped us put a dent in the track's supply of booze. S1Steve
Big Thanks to Tom and Croc for the invite. Thanks to Karl for letting me add counter weight to his 7 and get to enjoy the new F1 style shifter. You forget the cold when you get in the seat next to Karl and Mike... LOL Happy Thanksgiving to all, Steve

yellowss7
Karl, that car is just sick! I'm reving the nuts off mine and yours is just loafing, and the shifts are so quick there is no loss of acceleration. It is surprising that you guys didn't lap us. Must have been slower traffic that held you up, like that Mustang. Tom
jvbtte
Croc thanks so much for the invite.Tom your a great guy thank you! Croc
I have the video finished - no surprise but internet connections in Indonesia do not allow you to upload videos! :banghead: Plenty of my "oops" moments included. Absolutely nothing of Kitcat in any video. Because he never needed to warm his tires as much as mine, he was long gone by the time I had some grip! :svengo:
yellowss7
I've watched one of my sessions and I do have some good shots of you, Mike and Karl, I don't have much of Mary. Unfortunately, I won't get to editing before Monday. Tom
Croc
I have plenty of Mary in my videos - for a relative newbie she is damn quick! Very impressive to watch. Watch out Jeff (JBH) - she will be chasing you down next!
MichaelD
I look forward to the videos.

Al N.
I think the idea of turning the NJMP trackdays into a larger event in the spring is a sound one. I do miss the camaraderie!
Croc
Al! Good to see you here - hope you are doing well? Come and join us any time - we have a blast socially and everyone is welcome! PS - How is your seven coming along? note I did not use the word "Bessie"... Al N.
Croc- How long were you without power post Sandy? We were without for 15 days. Other than that, things are fine. My office moved to Clinton NJ, very close to exit 15 in case you all want to use that for a rendezvous sometime in the future. Is there someone in NJ with a blue/yellow noseband? (Stewart?) I saw him driving up 173 towards Clinton recently. There is some progress. I'll keep you all updated. -Al
Croc
I was lucky for Sandy - I never lost power in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London! Seriously, power was only off in my building for 6 hours. Mind you it sufferred flooding of the ground floor/garage/pool/gym and took a barge through the wall. :bs: None of my cars were there for that - I moved them out early before I flew out to London. You saw Stewart (Sabbot on here) with his lovely blue crossflow with yellow nose band. He is at exit 33 of 78 (I think). When you next see it, it will have a BDA engine. Al N.
A BDA? That's like that time in the Initial D anime series when Bunta puts the formula motor into the AE86!
