In my opinion, this is probably the nicest SCCA Caterham in the country at the moment. Bob has been a customer of mine for several years and totalled his previous car at the Runoffs in 2011 at Road America and the car he is selling was built ground up from a brand new chassis during the winter of 2011-2012 at a cost of probably $25K. I believe he raced it twice in 2012 and decided to "retire" from racing (he is in his late 60's). If the Runoffs were held anywhere else but Road America I would say that this car would be a legitimate threat to win as it currently sits. It is basically a "new" car with all of the best components. Craig

I have seen this race car in the flesh! It is truly a beautiful car..... It is too perfect for a racing car! Top shelf in every way!

I took a trip to Bob's house and purchased his spare engine. It is now installed in my Racing Caterham and we are going to run it this weekend at Watkins Glen.

Bob's car is almost too nice to be in regular racing duty. Maybe in HRS where the car is not thrashed about as much, but that SVT Engine would be wasted if it wasn't used to the MAX!

So, the moral of this story is........ If you are a Gentleman Racer, looking for THE BEST Racing Caterham available....... this is your car!

Great car! Great Care! A really nice guy to buy a car from! And Craig will not steer you wrong with this car.

If you fit these criteria....... Buy this car!

First, let me say "thank you" for all the kind words both Craig Chima and George Kline has said about the car on this site.

For anyone interested in the car, I have many photos as well as a complete description of the available spares. The price with the spares package and an older 20' enclosed trailer is $32,000. The car is located in Akron, OH. The body is actually painted silver and the fenders and nose are dark metallic green.

My correct email address is as follows:

I can also be contacted by phone at:

Sorry to be so late to the conversation, but following is additional accurate information about the car with contact information. I am asking $32,000 for the car, a 20' enclosed trailer and too many spares to list. Bob Doernberg - doernbergr@aol.com 216-276-2652 (cell). Photos upon request.

This car was developed by Chris Fox and is one of the most competitive Caterhams racing in SCCA. It was run in E Production in 2011 to the Great Lakes Divisional Championship, and finished third in National points with 5 wins in 8 races. The chassis was damaged at the 2011 Run-Offs and completely rebuilt over the following winter by Craig Chima with a new Arch Motors chassis, and all the goodies from Chris’ original race winning car. Now in Silver with dark, metallic green livery, the car is being offered for sale.
