Red Duck
My CSR is finally on its way and in May (I hope) I will be taking it through the registration process here in Connecticut. I have spent some time on the Connecticut DMV site so know he theory. My question is, has anyone actually taken a Caterham through the CT DMV process? And if so, can I trouble you for some practical advice. Thanks,
Croc
The person you need to talk with is Bruce (11budlite on this forum). He has got his Birkin through CT. He may still have the bumper bars that are needed to pass inspection (no I am not joking). There have been Caterhams registered in CT in the past, so it can be done. Congratulations on the new CSR. I love mine and am sure you will be thrilled with yours. I have a bunch of technical info and manuals for it if you ever need - PM me off line. Hettric
That explains the bumpers that were on my Caterham when I bought it.
Sabbot
I bought my Caterham from a previous owner in Connecticut; it was registered as a 1967 Lotus Seven. Not quite sure how the original owner did it but all of the paperwork checked out and facilitated reasonably easy registration in NJ.
Hettric
I also bought my car from CT in 8/12, It had been registered as a "composit" in 2000. Because of the problems registering in MA, I had looked into the CT requirements where it had been registered, they seemed reasonable and straightforward (I understand the need to trailer to the inspection). MA is now not so easy, after all this time (7 months) (and Money), I am almost done.

Red duck will probably be grateful to borrow them when the time arrives. Congrats on navigating MA registration - I hear that is a bear of a process. There is a photo on this site from Bruce (11budlite) of his car with the bumpers on. They were modified trailer light bars from recollection. ETA - found it. wemtd
Bump... Does anyone have recent experience bringing a registered se7en into CT? I'm led to believe it should be fairly routine and not involve the hoops and bumper bars, but would like to confirm this. Thanks P.
ecarte56
For what is worth, I have read that the inspection part of the process is the same regardless of whether or not the car was previously registered in another state. In my case, I had the advantage of researching the law and talking to others while I was building my car (Stalker #150) - but it failed inspection anyway. The car did pass on the second attempt, about six months ago. Budlite's bumper ideas helped. Please PM if you want to talk about the details. Croc
Shane - I think it is Paul (Wemtd) that is looking to explore CT and was just piggybacking off Steve's (Red Duck) thread. So you might help him out too by emailing Jim's contact info.
