Slonie
Apologies, I opened a bunch of tire threads to read from Search and didn't realize this reply was on a post in the Parts For Sale forum and not the tech forum. Well, hopefully people will see it here from the Activity Stream!
yellowss7
I've had both Avons and Yoko's on my Yellow caterham in those sizes. The Avons I had were the CR500's which are very light vs the R888's. very similar tread patters as well. Both are good on the track and street. Your tires, like mine will probably get hard before you wear either of them out. What's in your wallet? :jester: Tom
Slonie
Definitely true. I did a little more googling and found that the ZZR/ZZS have increased in weight over the CR500s to which point it may be very close (unfortunately!). But the Toyos are a bit portly at a quoted 19 or 20lbs depending on size. I just realized there is also a 225/45R13 model available, which might be a better fit in the rear for me. I'd like to preserve the handling balance, so I don't want to stagger the front and rear tire width too much. Source for the ZZS weight comes from here: https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/tyre-weight#comment-2193998 17lbs for a ZZS vs 19 or 20 for the Toyo. Sean
Slonie, Check Roger Kraus Racing in Castro Valley (East Bay) for tires. Their Avon pages lists individual weights and lots of other info. They are a very knowledgeable source for tire information, and they are also familiar with sevens. They show on their site that they have CR500 and Toyo RA-1 in the 13" sizes as two other possible options, but best to call, as sometimes the list online isn't current. They also have ACB10s if you want a really light weight tire, but these aren't radials; bias ply. Best of luck, Sean
Croc
I second Sean on Roger Kraus - great people to buy seven tires from.
