Just had that happen to my sons 98 Subaru Outback. New "professionally" tires installed 65 miles prior to that. Took out the studs (1 snapped, the rest stripped), rim, and drivers fender........

Not a kit-car problem. More of a I-forgot-to-tighten-the-lug-nuts problem. A problem I have, sadly, expereinced but thankfully, due to the noise of whe wobbling wheel, I stopped, checked, and tightened.

I've been there, not in a Seven, but in a Toyota Tacoma I used to own. I had just left from having my tires and wheels 'professionally' balanced and rotated (came with the purchase of the new tires). By the time I stopped, I was literally one thread away from losing the wheel. :svengo:

This also happened to my maserati QP, I just put new lowering springs on and on the way home the tire nearly came off. The shop had to pay for a new rim which was not cheap.

The last few years I try to remember to always re-torque (actually I don't believe most shops torque anything they just hit it with an air tool) my wheels after a service.

Wow! That RX7! I sure hope it wasnt his 'friend' that was in charge of tightening the wheels.

 

You know my aluminum Kodiak wheels feel a little different when I tighten them down. Its like the aluminum doesn't have any spring in it compared to steel or mags. The amount of turning between 'loose' and 'tight' is about half or less compared to my other cars. I tighten them up as hard as I can because of this. Never had a loose lug nut but it just doesnt feel right.
