I was watching from the F1 track while you guys were flying around the track on Saturday. Saw Doug when he drove over near my garage when his R500 overheated. Gave him as much advise as possible on things to check and figured his electric fan was not functioning.

Sorry I didn't come over to talk......I was finalizing my setup on my own terror of the track and couldn't be distracted ;-)

Hey Tom, I've been getting into racing karts with my two sons. We have a garage full of them and are usually at the F1 track on the weekends. Will have the Exige S out this week at NJMP with Schattenbaum PCA. I'll make sure to find a track day to join all my 7 friends this year......I have some ideas for a new video ;-)

Yes, I thot we se7en owners had it bad, then I saw the kart folks, jeez, we are amateaurs. Some of the kart guys could give Porsche Cup drivers a run for their $ when it comes to paddock set-up/gear.

Karting huh? My wallet twitches remembering when my 2 sons were racing shifter karts all over the eastern half of the US with the wka national road race series...for only 6 yrs! We put over 200, 000 miles on our motorhome and 34' trailer.

Ask me how I know how preposterously expensive that was. Cost me less when we ran a Super modified at Oswego...

Hey, I just wanted to thank everyone for making it a great track day event. Special thanks to Croc for the camera and data logger, Karl for keeping me dry when the heavens opened up and Tom for the most fun game of tag I've ever had on the track. Yes, I did exit stage right (in an awesome plum of tire smoke I might add), and it was all because I was trying to get away from Tom. So much fun....

I'm happy to report that the domination continued on Monday with SCDA. They were a lot better with point-bys and I only had to use the horn twice. The VW let me by afterwards, the Ford Mustang GT500 wouldn't let me pass after staying on his bumper for two laps. Pulled into the pits and complained... He was black flagged and never saw the track again. I can't imagine they booted him, so I'm guessing that it had something to do with his pride/ego. Even got by a 650HP Factory Five GTM :)

Tuesday setup to be great. SCDA moved me up another group so I had new victims. Less cars in the group so I could get some clean laps. Unfortunately 15 minutes into the first run as I'm hard braking into 1, and I hear an odd thunk. Couple of turns go by and I pass a mini. Another turn and I'm shocked to see that there are sprinkles on my visor. How can it rain without clouds? Is the mini spraying something? Oh wait, another turn and I notice the fluid and steam coming from the bonnet, and temp is at 125C. Limp to the pits to find the coolant boiling and the water pump belt had come off. Did I out brake the belt for my water pump? Has this happened to anyone else? I was able to get it back on after it cooled with some help from a really nice Porsche driver, but seeing as I didn't know what causes the belt to come off and it was my ride home I thought it best to call it a day. Made it home without issue, other than getting stuck in a thunderstorm with the top off...amazing how much water comes into the car when you go through a puddle :)

All in all I have to say it was a great 3 days at NJMP. The car is everything I hoped it would be and so much more. An absolute terror for most other cars, yet the handling is just so progressive and forgiving. A monster, but a gentle monster :) For those on the fence about taking your seven on the track, I strongly suggest trying it.

The bigger question I have is: When are we going again??? I enjoyed my time with SCDA, but it was so much more fun going with this group. Maybe we can get another event in this year?

Jeff, glad you had a good time. Those laps together, with Dave D for a few as well were great. We all stuck together and did you notice how we got group point bys for the most part? INTIMIDATION

You and Dave certainly made great progress on track. Your car in particular is very strong. It would just walk away from me on the straights. Especially right up to the point you missed the turn in a cloud of tire smoke. Luckily you handled the off well. Unfortunately my camera battery was dead and did not record it. Bummer.

Those laps together is what makes a seven event great. Cars with equal handling and braking capabilities and friendly drivers makes for fast safe and fun filled laps. Croc, Karl, Mike D and Kitcat had a few sessions like that too. Hopefully we will have many more.

Croc and I think we can get close to enough cars for our own run group next year, with a little luck. Hopefully we can suck in another couple of drivers from here eventually. (Boxologist,Stig, Jvbtte,Slingshot,Klasic69,Carman) Time to join in the fun. I sent my video off to Croc today. He should begin editing shortly. Oh, and just for the record, Jeff had some of the best smackdown lines for me and Croc in quick succession that were priceless. Tom

Jeff - I have had what I think was a stone get between water pump belt and pulley and dislodge it in my earlier zetec. I think that or a piece of rubber is the likely cause for your belt coming off and not anything more serious. That said I would be rechecking the belt for splits/frays and its tension.

during your first SCDA session on Mon I was hanging over the fence watching at the exit of turn 5 after the hump. You were fighting your way through the field nicely - passing was more polite. I saw some Miatas squabbling and not playing nice - 2 waved fists observed.
