I weighed my 7 today. She's a Heifer

Recommended Posts

Mine got weighed yesterday in the course of being aligned; 1402 lbs (with the 21 gallon tank full). Subtract that approximately 125 lbs of fuel and it's 1277, wh/given the full cage, is about right.

Thats a hell of a fuel supply - do you endurance race? Mine is an 8 gallon tank with probably 7-7.5 gal usable

It was built as an endurance racer-took 3rd overall at 25 hours at Thunderhill by prior owner and his team one year. Excellent gas mileage/large tank relative to the cars behind it helped as so many fewer pit stops. Also easier on brake pads, brakes, tires, etc., due to relative lightness.

1958 Lotus Seven series 1 weighed in at 1016# with fluids and a full fuel tank. With me in the car the weights come out to a fair bit more. The corner weights were:

287 | 275

-----------

295 | 393

I weighed my '62 S2 a couple of years back. Corner weights and gross weight include a full tank of gas and driver:

Left Front: 309lbs Right Front: 308lbs

Left Rear: 290lbs Right Rear: 341lbs

Gross Weight: 1248lbs

Driver Weight: 217lbs

Fuel Weight: 42lbs

Net Weight: 989lbs

I think that I could easily drop another 20 lbs by going to a light weight battery, mini starter and small frame alternator.

Alaskossie:

Hopefully a pic is worth aq 1000 words, see below. There is no boot, it's all fuel cell. This is a dedicated track car, no pretense of being streetable.

Mike,

Careful, you're not going to have ANY excuses for not going faster than anyone else on the track! :-)

A friend of mine threw an "Avoirdupois Party" where we weighed our cars and prizes were given out. It was held at some guys amazing private collection/club house. I won with the lightest car, 1230lbs with a full 15 gal fuel cell, so that puts it at about 1188lbs with a more typical/standard fuel load.

That seems high.

I decided to play instead of work today. Who needs a lift when you have pallets and a forklift....

So I weighed the 7

1587 lbs

91 lbs worth of pallets

= 1496 lbs

+me 180lbs

= 1676lbs fully loaded

Now to change the oil.
