Croc
And for a moment I thought you were referring to me! Fortunately not, so yes she is a good looking car - a very good looking car! The price looks high for what she may be though - a later reconstruct. The ad is (deliberately?) vague on what happened - a Series 2 that was written off, a replacement series 1 chassis from Arch Motors to rebuild it into a series 1? So you really get a stunning looking HiCost Seven when all is said and done? This begs another question - a UK car being sold on Ebay US. Its not an original car so how do you import it to the US? Technically a re-chassis-ed car (which has lost the original chassis number) like this is a new car and not a restored old car under the import rules and needs to have airbags, crash testing, emissions, etc based on the recent replacement year of the chassis unless the Arch replacement chassis is 25+ years old. I guess it is buyer beware on the paperwork trail for this car. Very interesting find - I like starting the morning with car ads like these! bball7754
Sort of like a resto-mod Seven.
MHKflyer52
So you really get a stunning looking HiCost Seven when all is said and done? I agree and would say it is a clone because it was a series II re-bodied to a series I but that is just my belief. Still a nice looking 7. :driving:
rnr
If you are looking for an original 7 check out this one in OR being sold by a GGLC member. Sounds like a better value for a similar price: http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/lotus/super_seven/1592767.html
TheDingo8MyBaby
I agree the valuation of the first car is a bit high, despite how nice it is. I also thought this one is quite a deal: http://www.lotus7.com/1965_LOT_7.html Considering most original 7's I've been seeing have been listed nearing or above the $40k mark. I'm not sure if the car has a dog ring transmission though, which would make it difficult to use on the street. Also - the updated front suspension may make it illegal for certain vintage classes. m wirth
Just couldn't help thinking that, with the flair over the scuttle and the brooklands, this is what Brian Anderson thought to combine the vintage with the new and bring the Ultralite into existence. I have only seen several pictures of this model and really nothing in print.
