Stalker on Track with Mclaren, Ferrari, GT3

Well, Saturday at MSR Cresson went well. It was by far my best track day thus far. I ended up sharing the track with some very respectable (and very expensive) cars from the likes of Ferrari and McLaren (I have to admit, I did a little drooling over the McLaren). And . . . I finally got some video with descent engine sound, no more wind or music (hopefully).

I was able to hook up with Lance Adams who was my instructor earlier this year during my first event with Apex and he and I ended up spending most of the day on-track together just for fun. Lance drove my car during the last session of the day and, well, I think he wants a Seven now.

The following videos are from the day. The first video is the shortest and combines a few select outtakes from sessions 1 and 3.

In the session 4 video, I was first out of the starting grid and pretty much enjoyed a mostly open track for the entire session.

In the session 5 video, I was late coming off the starting grid. Near the end of the session, the Avons on the rear were starting to get a little slippery.

In the session 6 video, Lance is behind the wheel, his first experience driving a Seven. He took to it like a duck to water.

Anyway, it was a fun day. My nine year old son even got a little track time with Lance in his Z06. As for me, I’m just excited to have engine noise in my vids.

Wow, that looks like a great track for a 7. I bet your arms and shoulders are sore from all that turning. Doesn't look like there are any really long straights where lack of aero starts to limit a 7.

Sound was very good too.

Thanks for sharing.

Man I want one of those time machines that xcarguy has. His session 5 title is "MSR Cresson 1.7 ccw Apex Driving Academy 09-13-14" Just could not resist.

Oh sure, go ahead . . . laugh . . . I told you I got faster toward the end of the day. :smilielol5::bs::smilielol5:

Cool videos!

I'm sure it was not intentional, but you tricked me with the exterior, still shots of the car for the opening frames of a couple of the videos. In car camera is certainly the easiest way to document track time, but I have been searching for more exterior video. I am curious to see how the chassis moves around on 7s. Plus, nothing beats a nice sliding rear shot!

Sorry about the trickery; not intentional. :sadangel:

For what it's worth, here are a couple of shots of my car from another perspective, but I don't think it's really what you're looking for. In the first vid, skip ahead to 3:40. In the second, skip to 2:28.

I like a shot that captures the front wheel as it shows both shock movement and slip angle.
