7 plus 2
I've been thinking of getting a motor cycle trailer for my seven. Has anyone got one? I saw a video on YouTube how to build one from a cheap utility trailer and a roof carrier, by a guy with a bike. Looks doable and fairly cheap. Comments and suggestions? fmorser
I'll weigh in on this. Not a motorcycle trailer, but one I built from scratch as I needed it to be light. My tow vehicle is the hand-me-down, then hand-me-back-up sedan I let my kids have all through college so it's high mileage, worn out and can't tow a lot (Chevy Lumina sedan). Car (scratch build book Locost) is a BEC, weighs 1,100 lbs and the trailer is about 325 lbs. I looked at plans on the internet and followed a guy who did a Europa trailer somewhat, but varied from that in places. Search Europa trailer and you should find them. Bought the axle locally same for steel. Tires/wheels rated at 1,100 lbs each and fenders from Amazon. Bought a winch online and put it all together. Painted with POR15. Registering it in MD was an enormous pain. Three times to the MVA, but in the end it's registered and I have hauled my car on it successfully several times. Attaching a picture of my first track day with the car.

Z3 Stalker
Here is my motorcycle trailer! It is made in Quebec, I cannot remember the make and I am out of town for another week, maybe Lancylad will chirp in. scannon
Here's my motorcycle trailer, simple its not, effective it is. Its a Haulmark Lohauler specifically made to haul motorcycles. Low height, V nose and a ramp. Works perfect for Sevens and even Miatas will fit but you have to step over the doors to get out. blubarisax
I also have a motorcycle trailer. It's a Featherlite 1610. A bit narrow, but light and easy to tow. http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac336/blubarisax/IMG00118-20110514-1659.jpg
DeanG
I use a featherlite motorcycle trailer. I added airline track for easy of adjusting tie down points and plywood to spread the point load.
Klasik-69
You may want to look at the Brunton Stalker website. They have a simple trailer you could build yourself
rss
i think maybe 7plus2 is talking about a trailer to pull behind his seven, given that it would be made from a rooftop carrier. a rooftop carrier that could cover a seven is bigger than any i've seen... WestTexasS2K
This is one I built for our One Lap adventures. It got named the coffin by our competition because we slept in it while going down the road, It has sleeping area in front and the rear compartment held all the spares and a 50 gallon nurse fuel tank and power inverter. It is constructed with 1" tubing like the 7 and lined with 3/8 plywood and skined with aluminum and torsion axle. Its a bit overkill for touring but certainly can be downsized. WestTexasS2K
a few more There was a previous thread that covered some touring trailers here. http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=7496&page=2 Edited September 25, 2013 by WestTexasS2K
7 plus 2
Sorry…my fault. I guess I wasn’t clear. As ‘rss’ said “i think maybe 7plus2 is talking about a trailer to pull behind his seven, given that it would be made from a rooftop carrier.” ‘Z3 Stalker’ has exactly what I want. And the one ‘jlumba81’ pointed out is great for price. ‘WestTexasS2K’ has a good one too, but a little too big for my needs. Just something to carry a couple of suite cases and maybe a case of beer. Thanx to all for the responses.
7 plus 2
Z3stalker Found addresses for a Honda dealer, and a Yamaha Artic Cat dealer in Quebec at the Pod-ium web site so I figure that one of these is where you got yours from (no need to rush home now). $1500.00 CDN eh! Maybe I can become a dealer in Ontario and just use the demo on weekends. WestTexasS2K Thanx for the USA7s link. Guess this topic had been covered before. Paul Hill
The Lugg & Roll is on the Canadian Costco website... http://www.costco.ca Listed under "trailers" if you can imagine. Not getting cheaper though...$1699.99 Still a pretty slick unit though!
Z3 Stalker
These Lug & Roll trailer come with a support that slides into the a hitch type system so you can store it vertically with the front hitch in the air in your garage (or wherever). rx7locost
A couple of suitcases and a case of beer don't require a trailer. How about a luggage platform? It is easy to store when not being used. Without wheels, there is nothing to register or license. I made it from thinwall conduit. It slips into a pair of receivers. It will easily hold a couple hundred pounds.
7 plus 2
Only problems with that luggage platform are: no one will see my restored spare wire wheel; and, if there was luggage and a case of beer on it, the case of beer would be gone (and maybe the luggage too) when I came back from having lunch or whatever.
