Well, I've established more theory than goal; theory being that, with my setup and current skill level (lacking . . . learning), the car (and I) should be quicker. Just how much quicker (if any) is to be determined. :rofl: Changes, in addition to adding 55 hp and 65 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, have included putting the car, and myself, on a bit of a diet. The car has received a lighter weight flywheel, an aluminum drive shaft in lieu of steel, CF wings (replaced the aluminum wings) and, of course (when used), lighter wheels. The loose nut behind the wheel :willy_nilly: has lost 35 lbs since last summer. Having said that, I'm guessing that the car and I will hit the track weighing somewhere between a total of 50-60 lbs lighter (this includes use of the lighter weight wheels). I've also installed a Traqmate system to 'hopefully' aid me in identifying and correcting my weaknesses; however, Traqmate tech support ensured me it would nothing to curb my increased craving for a piece of coconut pie. :drool: This coming Saturday at Cresson, theory will be difficult to deterrmine at the beginning of the day as I'm starting off running with my old (last year's) smaller (slicker) slicks and heavier wheel combo; I think they might have one more track day left in them. My plan is to run one-two sessions later in the day with the new wheel/tire combo. If I have any defined goal for Cresson, it's simply to improve my driving. Loren, With no data logging to confirm . . . . yet . . . . and last year being my first year EVER to get behind to the wheel on a road course, the best my car did (this is a swag based on video review) is in the neighborhood of 1:22-1:23. I drove 1:23-ish and Lance Adams (instructor/friend) drove it 1:22-ish. I think I remember you telling me you turned a 1:19 at MSRC. I know it's last-minute, but I'll be there Saturday if you could make it over. I:22 -1:21 is what most laps were. I believe John Meyers ran a 1:14 in his Stalker with his LS3 setup. You have the potential to get way down there. Manshoon11 Posted March 18, 2014 Share Posted March 18, 2014 I honed my skills on 300TW street tires (lotus elise). I went form 1:36's in my first track day to 1:29's within a year. Then came the RA1's :drool: 1:26's in my first session, and boy were they slick for the first few laps. and down to 1:24's in my 3rd session. Since then I would average 1:25 or so. It is supposed to be fun. And driving at/near the limit shouldn't feel like all hell is breaking loose. Quite the opposite. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Always felt it was turning driving into work (goals/objectives/action plans, etc). I am all for getting smoother, looking for a better line, balancing the car, raising my line of sight, etc, but being clock-conscious made it less fun, for me anyhow. And, always made it tempting to do something "manly" (aka stupid) to shave off a coupe tenths. Then I ended up over-driving, fighting the car, etc. The old slow-up-to-go-fast approach seemed to be easier to implement if I wasn't thinking abt the clock. And absolutely :iagree: on ALL points. It's about enjoying the journey. In all truth, I get a real kick out of simply doing mods to the car if for no other reason than just the thrill and entertainment of it all. Take the Traqmate install for instance; I promise you I'll end up using it more for video overlay than anything else because of the gee wiz factor. I just want to enjoy my car and drive it as safely and as smoothly as possible. I too do not want to get hung up on watching the clock. For me, this is more about having fun than anything else.
