Just wanted to say hi and to get acquainted as I'm about to start the questions lol as its time to start a new part of the automotive world I haven't visited before (suspensions). I have a WCM Ultralight LM which has never been completely assembled suspension wise. I am totally clueless when it comes to a race car type suspension so be prepared for the questions :). My current stable includes a 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye, 1966 Austin Healey BJ8 and a 2 door F250 Powerstroke.

I can hear the question now... What is a WCM Ultralight LM? It is a one of one prototype developed by Brian Anderson but never finalized into production. The chassis and mechanical are the same as the Ultralight SR2, just has a swoopy longer exotic looking body with the requisite modifications done to the chassis for the body structure. Its also a few pounds heavier. Anyways just wanted to say hi to the gang:seeya:

Blindcars,

I just posted on your introduction in the 'So, tell us a little about yourselves' thread, and yes, that is the car I was thinking of. How did you come across the car?

Loren (WestTexas) will probably check in soon. He bought WCM from Brian and would probably be your best bet on getting the suspension set up. And he's relatively close by.

If you want to really customize the suspension then take a look at what John K has done to his S2K.

Look forward to seeing more pics when you get a chance. Welcome!

@xcars.. ran across an obscure ad and decided to have a look :) I will post more pics shortly and have gotten hold of Bruce so I can start going forward on it. Hopefully I am not in over my head as far as knowledge goes.

You're only in over your head if you give up . . . . or if someone is shoveling dirt in your face. :D Since that's not the case, and being that you don't sound like the 'giving up' type, I'd say your good.

And that car . . . . it oozes with opportunity and possibilities.

The red body is the original artists rendering and the blue is the car itself

i agree with everyone - great upside. reminds me of a topless rolf, or maybe an older "C" or "D" sports racer. caterham produced an earlier car with full fenders, all aluminum, but a bit heavy and too cramped - never caught on. this car is way more aero than that caterham fender car - prettier, too. be nice if you can fair in the headlamps. use modern HID's, too - no old chrysler omni eyeballs for this bad boy!

Going to have to see what can be fitted. Late Audi ? Hid or LED hopefully. Definetly w lexan covers :)

now that i look a second time, i'm also going to recommend a carbon fiber dash. that would update and upgrade the interior substantially. be sure to center-mount the tach, with shiftlights just above (shiftlights will get a workout - with a 4.11 or 4.44 final drive ratio, your first three gears will require ABOUT 1.7 SECS EACH!). and don't forget a detachable steering wheel. lorren now recommends moving the wheel up over the bottom dash crossbrace, but i'm not sure about that position. as long as the wheel is detachable (for ingress/egress), i prefer the undermount position for driving.

WOW!! Where did you get those pictures??? Do tell...

@BruceK : I was thinking the exact same thing about the dash. Do you have one? Also all those circuit breakers have to go somewhere else. Going to look at that long and hard. I like the circuit breakers like in airplane much better and don't feel the need for them to be on dash.

got the carbon fiber and adhesives, but haven't committed the time yet. i'm installing a moroso oil accumulator and a one-gallon anti-surge fuel cell this winter, so my plate is full. i agree re: circuit breakers. just the really purposeful stuff belongs on the dash, like tach and other instruments, paddock key, ignition. the rest should be behind-the-scenes, tucked away.
