  1. A few updates. Now that the low-level fuel feed issues have been resolved with a proper positive displacement pump, I swapped out V2 of the in-tank fuel assembly setup for my original version. Those keeping track at home may recall there were initial concerns that those fuel feed issues were due to additional plumbing restrictions in V1 which used a remotely mounted Hydramat attached to the tank floor. In contrast, V2 used a smaller Hydramat attached directly to the bottom of the pump but that placed it slightly above the tank floor. Unfortunately, I don't have good photos of either setup but these will give an idea of the difference. The top photo is the outgoing V2 with the positive displacement pump alongside, and the bottom photo is V1 but without the fuel sensor installed (the long silver tube in the V2 picture). While doing that job, I decided to map the Centroid fuel level sensor's output by slowly adding fuel to the nearly empty tank and taking voltage measurements after every gallon. I could then update the 0-5V sensor map used by the AiM to ensure accuracy throughout the range. What I didn't realize at the time is the sensor has a built-in empty to full detection capability triggered when certain conditions are met. I appear to have unintentionally met those conditions, creating all kinds of accuracy issues such as reading full with less than 3 gallons in the tank. After redoing it a couple of times with troubleshooting assistance from Centroid – whose support was excellent – things seem to be sorted but they did advise to watch for future anomalies as there remains the possibility the sensor has a random issue. During the mapping, I was also able to confirm the SV tank really does hold 41 liters. With the Hydramat, I should be able to access nearly all of it, rather than just ~35 liters as with the factory setup. This weekend I had my first opportunity to drive the car in hot weather. I'm happy to report the factory heat insulation works just fine. After one hour of driving in 90F weather with a very strong sun, temps were similar to the Westfield which has never had an issue in this regard. The unused fastener holes for the 3-point seat belts have been bugging me; they look unnecessarily unfinished. To rectify, I printed some plugs (don't worry, they add under 1.9 grams each) and popped them in place. -John
  2. It's best to connect via PM and share email addresses there. Bots scrape the internet for email and phone numbers. Publishing them on the forum is just asking to be added to even more spam lists. If you aren't familiar with how to PM on this platform, please see this help guide:
  3. You weren't kidding when you said you're willing to transport. Congratulations! Looking forward to reading more about it.
  4. Apple's .heic format is unsupported by many forum software packages, including this one. As a result, they come through as attachments which people must download rather than simply view inline within the post. More recent iPhones will automatically convert an .heic to a .jpeg when either uploading it to the forum via a browser or sending it via email. However, it appears that Macs and older iPhones do not perform this conversion and require you to first resave the picture as a jpeg. As a courtesy to other members, if you have attempted to attach an .heic image, please resave it as a jpeg and then insert it into your post.

  6. Very well done video! Did Ned's phone survive?
  7. I know you had a long drive home, but 1300 miles in less than a month is impressive! Glad to see you're able to enjoy the car after such a long wait. Great photos!
  8. In case you missed it, the 260 CSR in the for sale section is that size, and Croc posts a list of all known available cars listed elsewhere to his thread updated every Sunday. Latest post is below. Most Westfields (SEiW) have bigger interiors than the S3, as do WCM Ultralites, Brunton Stalkers, and the wide-body Birkins. If you are looking for people to contact you with cars not yet listed, it might be helpful to provide a bit more information like preferred age, condition, engines, and price range.
  9. The Library is simply a repository of published information, some dating back to the 1950's. It's not intended to be a vetted list of historically accurate and verified information. I'm certain many of those books, manuals, and articles contain errors, particularly when it pertains to Lotus. Heck, even the Caterham build manuals have inaccuracies that are highlighted in various build threads and blogs. Pointing them out in a thread for discussion as done here can be worthwhile, but we can't be in the business of tracking those inaccuracies and highlighting them for each download or pulling the article simply because it contains errors. I'm not saying that is the ask here, but I want to make sure to we're setting correct expectations. Thanks, John
  10. Duncan Cowper was a few seconds slower than last year when he turned a 9:57.072, but he still made the top 10:
  11. When it's ready, please attach it to a PM to the two of us and we can sort it. I opted to point you to that page for instructions, given it's not clear when you will have a final copy ready, and that process may change -- in fact, it did on Saturday
  12. Just follow the submission process at the top of the Library page once the doc is final.
  13. The PCD should be 4x108 but not sure about offset given this is a live axle car (SE not SEi). I seem to recall it differs, and might even differ front to rear, so definitely worth measuring. @Paul summers are you looking for a matching spare or just a spare that fits?
  14. Folks, please remember this is a member's advertisement. We should keep the conversation focused on his car and refrain from muddying the waters with pictures of other cars or links to other auctions. Thanks, John
  15. It's in the library under WCM Ultralite > Build & User Guides:
  16. I made a few changes to the navigation menu today. The Support ticketing system is being deprecated in the upcoming software release. Therefore, I have removed Support from the top-level menu. Most people simply PM me directly or use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page when they need help, so that is the new process. Downloads is now called Library which is more intuitive, and it has been moved to the top-level menu thanks to the extra space from removing Support. -John

  17. Downloads is the default name in the forum software for that section. We didn't' know how it would evolve over time so didn't change it, but given the current state, it probably makes sense to rename it to something more intuitive like Library. Stay tuned.
  18. In my defense, in 23 years of continuous se7en ownership, I've never had a heater Hopefully that helps 11budlite locate it this weekend.
  19. @11Budlite checked and it's not next to the fuel tank on the Sigma. Looking at the photos on PistonHeads, it appears it may be behind the engine. Note what looks like the red 12v+ battery cable. Anyone recognize that location? BTW although the PH thread calls it a MFRU, Ford lists it as a fuel pump control module (AU5A-9D370-FC). It doesn't control any other circuits.
  20. That category of shoe is called Barefoot, and quite a few have a normal toe box rather than the individual toe set up. I use Merrell's from their Glove line but do a search on Barefoot shoes to find plenty of other options.
  21. Info here: https://ppihc.org/competitors/duncan-cowper/ Below is an interview with Duncan conducted last year that includes in car video going up the hill.
  22. I noticed the same thing, but it is possible that the ECU controls the main FP relay instead. The MBE simply switches that programmable output to ground when the engine is over a specified rpm to ensure the pump won't continue to run if the engine stalls. It doesn't send any signals to adjust the pump speed based on a table or a fuel pressure reading like more sophisticated systems. As @11Budlite states, it's likely not the issue but interesting to understand nonetheless. The fact that one fuel pump assembly is over 85% more expensive than the other tells me something is significantly different. Or it's just another example of head scratching pricing from Caterham
  23. This part of the article is no surprise, but it still makes me shake my head in disbelief: "Ask Laishley how long it takes to build a Caterham and he answers candidly, “I don’t know.” That’s because each builder has his or her own methods and each car is unique." How can you drive towards consistent quality, efficiency, and profitability in a production environment when everyone does it their own way? The new space is pretty though.
  24. With a single fuel line, you should have the PWM controller I mentioned earlier. Here is a picture of mine. It's a Ford item so I bet the version used on the Sigma looks very similar or is even the same part.
