  1. Good that there are no pix, I am already envious enough:). You shd bring it to NJMP for its shakedown! It's just an aero se7en.
  2. Good that there are no pix, I am already envious enough:).
  3. I have had judges do that in my carer as a lawyer (never a good sign). Two even fell asleep and had to be woken up.
  4. I have never seen them check seat belt expiration. Just helmet's Snell date. Maybe they did and I didn't notice.
  5. That's just not right:)!!!
  6. Nick: I can only echo Xcarguy's comment: "Awesome!!!". Cant be a lot of those still running around. With that huge "lump":) of an engine, it must weigh....900 pounds, maybe? Anyhow, what a car! I never heard of it-or of a Deek. My Caterham is starting to sound totally pedestrian.
  7. You V8 Stalker guys make me sick (jealousy is not good;)). Why doesnt one of you get a 1/4 mile time, just so everyone knows how bad-a$$ your cars are?????
  8. I just updated an old trailering thread (Trailering question). Read it and (hopefully) avoid making the countless mistakes I made, espcially early on.
  9. Bump. I will add to things I think I have learned: When possible pack stuff in your tow vehicle, rather than the trailer, to help keep it from being overwhelmed by the overloaded trailer. Replace bias ply trailer tires w/steel belted radials as soon as possible. Maintain a trailer mileage log and do the necessary maintenance per that log (grease wheel bearings). They sell an after-market mileage device that attaches to a trailer wheel and records distance. Don't show up with 10' to spare to get your trailer out of storage after a winter of non-use. Twice I have found various locks rusted tight and impossible to get off in order to gain access to the trailer or the trailer hitch. Yes, with penetrating oil, a return home for a crow bar and a heat gun I was able to open it up. But way behind my already too tight schedule.
  10. "Nice" doesn't do it justice. Many of the surfaces look gold-plated. My trailer features a rust color. Actually it is rust. Now you will have to upgrade your tow vehicle to keep pace w/your fancy trailer! As to tongue weight, I found some experimentation was helpful. When I use the max, the tow vehicle feels like the front wheels are barely touching the ground. Too far back and the ball and hitch rattle like crazy. So somewhere mid-point seems to work best. Keep your windows down and radio off and listen carefully the first coupla miles to determine if it is towing smoothly, effortlessly. As I recall, Tom's trailer ended up on its side once, so he does have stories to tell.
  11. Sounds like a blast! Look forward to seeing the upcoming pix.
  12. Very nice! I loved the reverse camera, esp the shot of the Porsche's drift thru the turn at about 2'35'' as he starts overtaking you. Sort of hard to believe the Caterham cld be so competitive against such high hp Porsches. Ever think of a HANS unit? Your head sure is bobbing, tho you wld have to use your mirrors, no more head swiveling.
  13. Ditto xcar: the Anglesy circuit is the stuff of dreams. The shot of Croc's se7en headed into the sea is transcendent!
  14. One little guy saw me and my 7 and fell over he was so excited.
  15. My X- flow had a bouncy tach, esp at the track, where it was totally useless. I think it's the tach, not the carb? Seems to be a common problem.
  16. My x-flow always spit gas out the air filter and onto the clam fender. Fortunately I parked in a detached garage no gas smell in the house. It also leaked at fuel filler hose into the tank. Tightening the hose clamp did much to reduce the raw gas smell.
  17. I agree with the high-side estimate. Also impossible to know how reliable any given Caterham will be. I would favor those that have been used regularly over cars that have sat for years ("Low mileage!"). Seeing and driving the car will tell you a lot. And if you can test a couple, then you have a point of reference for what to look for, how they shd drive, etc. Typically, a Caterham is pretty reliable, once fully sorted. I have zero mechanical skill and was always able to trouble shoot/fix whatever came up on a trip. Pluses in the X-flow models are 5 sp, Dedeion, long cockpit, FIA roll-over bar, non-bench seats, full paint. The Craigslist car seemed to have some nice engine work wh/is always a plus as well.
  18. Carsport. I read Twerd's post to say he'd actually sat in this particular Stalker and the custom cage/roof was too low for him. If nothing else, it does raise the interesting question of how one gets in. Is the top hinged? If not, the driver will need to be pretty spry to twist in thru the side.
  19. VERY stressful for everyone, I am sure! As parents, we feel responsible for everything involving our kids, and here it is easy to feel completely helpless. I am happy to hear that a dx has been achieved and tx begun. Fingers crossed! I know all of us on the Forum are rooting for her.
  20. The shot from over the rear wing is so nice! Interesting that w/the V-8, the Stalker's hood (bonnet?) is much lower-it doesn't have the standard Stalker engine bulge.
  21. It has now been relisted on E-Bay: Let the torture continue:).
  22. Can't wait to see more pix of this fantastic car!
  23. Rubber mounts (wh/have a steel core).
  24. He can't import it into Canada til it's 15 years old(:.
  25. Thx, I will add this to my growing list of odd-ball problems caused by Caterham's cr*p motor mounts. Seems to be an especial issue on pre year 2000 cars. As I have posted elsewhere, the mounts are good for abt 5000 miles, then time to be replaced, or at least alert to potential issues.
