  1. Depending on whether the date ends up on a time already scheduled for vacations, weddings etc., I'd be interested. It is a shorter and much easier drive from Cincy than to NJMP, for instance. I doubt 2 track days is feasible. It is an expensive track to rent. Happy to do 2 tho, if it happens.
  2. The shot of the white 1958-ish Elite sitting behind the Mark I (Lotus's Model T?) shows what amazing progress the company made in 10 years. The Elite is my favorite all time Lotus, then the 7. I have never seen a surviving Lotus Elite where the hood (bonnet) wasn't warped badly or ill-fitting. And of course using un-reinforced fiberglass to support suspension points wasn't destined to last long. Still, the few surviving examples can command 6 figures. Didn't know the 7 only had one SCCA Run-offs victory. I would have guessed it had many.
  3. JR: Don't recall for sure but think I ordered a replacement thru Dick Brink, who was a Birkin dealer of sorts back then and "built" my car. He still has lottsa parts and is knowledgeable, so mite know where to find one, if he doesn't have one. There is also a Birkin group on Yahoo and they are v helpful (birkinowners@yahoogroups.com). Maybe join/post?
  4. It's a"mean machine"!
  5. The first se7en I ever seriously considered buying had been built by an engineer here in Cincy. After my (never to be forgotten) test drive, he showed me this same little model Caterham. And, I think he said he'd spent more time building the model than assembling his Caterham, tho I was so addled after my test drive I may have that wrong:).
  6. Fleet? Let's see the rest:). I have to agree, that is quite an addition. Will it be as fast as your turbo Cat tho?
  7. So the Praga is festooned with Peugeot logos and the Mazda w/Ferrari logos? What's next, putting Lotus logos on Caterhams:)?
  8. Tom: I think it is a Peugeot 908. If so, that model won 24 hrs of Le mans in '09. Mite even be as fast as a V8 Storker (in the rain:)). Lots of amazing cars, and the "car hauler Grand Prix' in the parking lot/paddock was in full swing too (18 wheelers for a track day???).
  9. Not possible to bring in a new kit car, even partially assembled, w/engine installed. That's why engines are typically sourced here and added here. Not sure how Tom (YellowSS7) got his Rover engine. Maybe sourced separately in UK?
  10. Croc: It's the OTHER drivers who call me "the blue enema". I like to think of my self as just tagging along and "closely" watching their lines so as to learn:).
  11. Croc: 40K miles (ru crazy:))?
  12. Congratulations on the win over the Miata horde! I assume the massive wreck was 5 cars going into turn one together where there was room for 1 &1/2?
  13. Love it! It looks tiny tho. Looking forward to more details. Maybe an engine compartment photo or two?
  14. Nice! Based on tire melt, I'd say you are getting heat into the fronts:).
  15. As I recall, some markets (Germany?) made clamshells illegal and Caterham found it easier to just go with a single version. And cycle fenders were more popular in any event, maybe because of front end lift issues?
  16. Can't wait for full report. Not many tracks are the equal of them Storkers you and Mario drive. This is one of them. Be safe!
  17. K-69: Howse about some pix of the new set up? Will be interested in hearing your track day results. Wider means more frontal area and these things are already bricks. So maybe what you gain in the curves you lose on the straights? Also wonder if they are too big, and your car too light, for them to warm up to optimal operating temperatures. GRM recently looked at wheel weight and , surprisingly, didn't find heavy wheels made the car slower, despite all the theory to the contrary (Un-sprung weight, rotating weight, etc.).
  18. I can report that not much fits under my front CSR wings. The bespoke tire is a Goodyear slick 20x6.5-13 (Formula Ford tire). Obviously I need Klasik-69's specially made front fender:). Blubarisax's 13" wheel/tire combo also worked but there was rubbing at speed (air pressure deflected wing into tire). Not sure of make of his tire, mite have been an Avon, or as Croc says a Michelin. I know the tire size was 205/55/13 as I have a photo of it. My 15'' Toyo R888 195x 50 most definetly did not fit (I now run it on the back, as the 235 15/50 did not come close to fitting in the rear). I went to a 13" 185/60 Toyo R888 up front and w/some bending and prying it fit. Still, the very small Goodyear slick is the ideal size. Tom's (Yellow SS)monster front slick is below, next to my little front Goodyear slick. Who says cycle fenders are better than clams:)?
  19. Shane-Go for it!!!
  20. Who let the Caterham into that Spec Miata group:)?
  21. NPR continues to run "Best of Car Talks". Definitely an all-time favorite of mine. Cars were just an excuse for them to cut-up and laugh, tho they did know their stuff-as might be expected of two MIT grads working as mechanics.
  22. XCar: Why stop with the nose cone:)???
  23. Let the next adventure begin! Yours was one of the nicest out there, someone got very lucky!
  24. Agree with both Blokko and P Hill. There is a reason there are so many S3 clones and no S4 clones. But for the right person an S4 mite be perfect fit.
  25. Off Road: My (Beachman Racing built) track-only Cat has the same mirror mounted off-center to the right at the front of my cage. Due to it's convex nature, it offers a panoramic view of all that is behind. Also have a driver's side, side-view mirror mounted to the cage, and the combo is excellent.
