  1. "The course only troubles me if it is overdriven. Todd was being measured in his driving by leaving a margin of safety - you could see it in the video - but was close enough to make it exciting. Well put, Croc. In the Panamericana, (the 6 times I ran) we usually had one ex-F1 driver. They must have thought it was a circuit race. Most never finished the first day. None of them ever finished the second day without a crash. One has to adjust to the conditions. That street event looks like a lot of fun, though posting a few "No Spectating" areas would take nothing away. Just moving across the street in some cases would go a long way toward make it safer.
  2. Try the Carrera Panamericana.

  4. Holy Mole! No wonder I didn't try to built anything my own. Congratulations!
  5. OK, I give up. What is the first, red, car?
  6. Croc's list has gotten so long, I may have missed this one. Or it's new. https://www.streetsideclassics.com/vehicles/0823-nsh/1962-lotus-stalker-super-7
  7. That sort of accident totals a lot of cars, with the airbags adding to repairs. You take the insurance payout (agreed value) and get another one. Or you take their money, minus a nominal salvage amount, and keep the salvage. Then go the LoCost route and fix it. Probably no harder or more expensive than it would be with my old (80s) Birkin. My advice: Don't worry. Be happy. -Mark
  8. In Texas, this poor baby would be in Registration Hell. At the moment they only entertain kits that are a replica of something old. I would hold onto a Miata title and just call it modified or rebodied. I do not think any cop really cares, as long as it has (old Miata) plates.
  9. A bit pricey, so maybe two of you should go in together. Not exactly a winter basement project. https://bringatrailer.com/2014/12/31/bring-a-paver-historic-marlboro-motor-raceway-for-sale/
  10. And is that a OWOW steering wheel?
  11. LOCOST. Decidedly low cost features, but some interesting metal work. https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/d/2008-hand-built-comet-roadster/6667797697.html
  12. Thank God I just retired.
  13. PLEASE, tell what state is so enlightened. May need it someday.
  14. I've always thought 13.6 was right on, so you are not far off. Above points are good. If your laptop is reading off the ECU, maybe that causes a couple tenths drop. Some circuits have a built in resistance. Are you having any negative symptoms?
  15. Rick, Congratulations. Dig the yellow accents. Enjoy it. -Mark
  16. That looks very cool. Certainly slimmed than the 5-BC that I have mounted to my roll bar. Someone, get one, put a little bucket of gas on fire and let us all know how it works.
  17. I doubt you could find one now. But, in the old days we had No Lead and Leaded gas pumps side by side. People who wanted to put Leaded in a No Lead car bought a nozzle adapter that had the skinny neck to go through the flapper, topped by a bigger neck that fit a Leaded nozzle (slightly bigger diameter). This was just an adapter, no conical funnel. A bit of automotive nostalgia that might be useful again.
  18. It is impossible to beat the look of bare aluminium. Congratulations on a beautiful car!
  19. I had never read such a description of drum brakes: "All round drums ensure you retail full momentum into corners..."
  20. Croc, ... NEW ... Miata Locost project... If someone can have that project done in a week, they must work on one of those fantasy TV shows. You know, where they buy a hunk of junk and turn it into a show stopper for the big auction. About a year of work in one week.
  21. I just want to hear what the better half had to say at that 50 yard mark.
  22. Great looking. It may not add HP or torque, but it's sure to add 10 mph, especially when sitting still.
  23. No annual inspections in CT? I have to put on my wipers every year. Congratulations. Do you get a nifty little state issued plate for all your hard work? Or, just a number to stamp.
  24. "They shouldn’t be allowed to call them Caterhams" Good thing you're talking about Cobras. I always thought a Cobra replica should have to attach the word Replica every time. I only know one thing that could get Shelby cussing quicker than a replica being called a Cobra.
