  1. I'd say $3,500 was a bit much. I shipped my 7 from Frankfurt, Germany to Seattle for $2,500 this past July and that included all port fees.

Looks like that ER22 is discontinued though. But it looks like the PC-535 is the one I need at 6.7x3.9x6.1 and even has the correct terminal orientation. It's just a bit physically smaller than the Yuasa 896 (7 1/4w X 4 7/8d X 7h) that's currently in my 7 but has the same 200 CCA's. I worry about the 680's CCA, As my X-flow has the dual weber setup as opposed to the FI. So it sometimes needs a bit more cranking to fire over after setting for a long time. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
  3. It's a nice looking watch. But. It's rather big money for having a $64 dollar non-temp compensated quartz movement. http://www.esslinger.com/harley-ronda-hq5040-b-quartz-watch-movement.aspx
  4. I just brought a Caterham into the USA from Germany (I purchased it in the UK though) As it is a 1983 model year. There were no taxes other than port fees, And a few odds and ends. I believe it totaled $200-$300. I used all ways international shipping & customs brokers 6610 tributary St. Suite 102 Baltimore Maryland 21224 410-631-1862 This is who the US Government uses when shipping the cars for military personal overseas assignments. My Caterham did not have nor did it need an MSO. It did have the old V5 UK registration as well as the German papers. It didn't have a title like the USA has at all. Just the registration. Washington state didn't have an issue with those papers at all. The VIN number is short. (LCS46400R) In fact. Just today I received my Washington title in the mail with that VIN assigned.

Those terminals do not match and are reversed from the 896. The battery that rx7locost linked to is the correct battery. But Yuasa only sells that battery in Europe. The cross ref manuals in the USA do not even list an 896.

And there is the problem. That is a UK site. Yuasa USA does not list the 896 nor the alternate # of 53034. Yuasa USA does list a 53030 which has the terminals reversed from the 53034.

So what does everyone do when it comes time for a new battery? I bought my seven in Europe and it has a Yuasa 896 in it. I can't find any info at all. The 896 seems to be a Europe only battery. Called Yuasa USA and met what has become typical customer service in the USA anymore. (I miss Europe) They said Sorry Yuasa doesn't deal in car batteries. We can't do anything for you. Oh! I see. You mean the battery that is in my car and has Yuasa stickers on it is a figment of my imagination. Sorry sir. Yuasa doesn't do car batteries. The Yuasa in my seven measures 7" long X 4.75" wide X 6.25" height. The terminals are towards the front of the car on the pass side (it is RHD) the + terminal is to the inside.
  8. And her brain was well beyond two feet from her head.
  9. That would be good news. While I'm not a fan of Audi cars (R8 is great though) It would be good to see things shaken up a bit by new blood from Audi & Honda. I imagine that if the 4 cylinder formula had been adopted as planed. Then we would have possibly seen BMW back in the game.
  10. Off road. I have used these http://www.constructorsrg.com/mirrors/hindsight.html on a sport bike I owned at one time. They are billet alu and are rock solid. All one would have to do is machine a "button" of 7/8" diameter with a hollow center that screws into the windscreen bracket.
  11. Dang, Dang, Dang. Here I sit in Eastern Washington state. With our GLK250 diesel that we just picked up from the Seattle port just days ago, But still needs the hitch installed.
  12. Of course not. And it just shows how much of a lie it is when we American's claim that we are the land of the free. We gave up our freedom for a bit of (alleged) security a long, long time ago.
  13. I will be trailering it back to Walla Walla. The wife had to take a day off work to come with me. Seems the port is a secure area & will cost me $80 per hour for an escort (no not that type of escort) But the wife has a government ID card that gets us in for free. So she is taking holiday time to come along. Other wise I might be inclined to monkey around a bit. We will come to Seattle on Monday, spend the night and go to the docks on Tuesday AM. The port personnel said the car has been through the ringer in customs. Seems it went through every type of inspection that they do. So perhaps it has been through an episode of Ferris Bueller. So a very detailed inspection will be called for.
  14. Just got a notification that my Caterham has been released from the Port of Tacoma customs. Now I need to make the 4.5-5 hour slog to Tacoma and prey that the car hasn't been treated to a Ferris Bueller session. Wish me luck.
  15. I would never think that the group would support ISIS. Here is the question in question, "From what you know, please, tell me if you have a very favourable, somewhat favourable, somewhat unfavourable or very unfavourable opinion of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant otherwise known as Isis?" That does not seem a particularly underhanded question meant to illicit a certain response. The same question in Germany had a much different result. And France? Well. They always seem to be off the tracks in one way or another. Of course there is the fact that there are a lot of Brits in the middle east fighting for the Islamist's. And a Brit murdered Foley. I consider that a bit troubling. I do fear for Britain especially. As they seem bent on allowing every radical Islamist free access into their country. The killers father was in the US headed back to Egypt via the UK in 1991. Where he applied for asylum. And what did the UK do? yep. They granted it to him and he promptly got involved with al qaeda in London and was involved in the 1999 US embassy bombings in Africa. How nice. And as it turns out the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Unfortunately, I don't think the 7% is far off if at all.
  16. Based on the replies so far. I'm actually regretting having brought it up on the forum. I find any number above zero very troubling. Especially considering that even Al-Qaeda find the ISIS guys troublesome.
  17. Until one does a little math. 7% of a population of 57mil is 3.9 million Brits that think ISIS is cool. The total Muslim population is 4.8% and I doubt that 100% of them agree with the ISIS bunch.
  18. Did anyone see that poll that shows 16% in France, 7% in Britain, 2% in Germany actually support the savages at ISIS. I'm actually having misgivings about having gone to Britain on several holidays and bought my British car from a British dealer.
  19. Got to love the misleading hook line "2013 TESLA" Then in the description. "this is NOT a Tesla. Bloody hell then. Why did it say Tesla in the advert?
  20. I was looking at replacement Yoko A048's in 185/50/14 but no deal. One thing about the tire rack that I don't like is that when they don't have the exact size you requested. The site just says sorry. Rather than show other close sizes in the 14" range. To that end. I was searching for tire tests of the Toyo R888 and was referred to the tire rack and saw that the toyo comes in a 205/55/14 that works on 6-7" wide wheels. Which should be fine on the cats wheels.
  21. Well. Where does one start on this? 1, My heart goes out to all involved. 2, I'm shocked given the WWF nature of circle track/NASCAR, that this hasn't happened a long time ago. 3, The WWF nature of these two race series is why I haven't bothered to watch any of those races in 30 years. The mentality of the participants of these two motor sports just confirms that I made the correct decision all those years ago to not watch it EVER again. 4, It appears on the video that the deceased ran further onto the track just after a car passed and into the path of Stewart who was pretty close behind that particular car. One should also factor in that it was a night race. 5, What did the driver (Ward) think he was going to do to Stewart?
  22. Here's how it works in Washington state. This is from a Ferrari chat forum. "Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 46.16.240 states in part, "The vehicle license number plates shall be attached conspicuously at the front and rear of each vehicle . . . PROVIDED HOWEVER, that in cases where the body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this section is impossible, permission to deviate there from may be granted by the state patrol. . . ." Every vehicle is required to have a front license plate if it is possible to affix one to a vehicle. Therefore if there is a license plate bracket (factory part number) which may be affixed to the vehicle allowing for the front license plate to be displayed, you will be required to install it on your vehicle whether or not it requires you to drill holes. If after researching for a factory license plate bracket you cannot find said license plate bracket, you can apply for a front license plate waiver for your vehicle. These waivers are looked at on a case by case basis based on the original manufactured version of the vehicle and its ability to affix a front license plate. To request a front license plate waiver please write a letter articulating why you feel you should be exempt from the law, include a picture of the front of the vehicle and any additional information you feel would outline your case and send to: Washington State Patrol Equipment & Standards PO Box 42600 Olympia WA 98504-2600"" Then there is this: When I got my exemption, there were only four other cars with exemptions in Washington. A Caterham(SP), a 512 bb, and I have forgotten the other two. So, I just might be able to run my seven sans a front number plate.
  23. Tabor10, I'll have to agree with the average American driver. They barely seem to be aware that they are in a car at all. Believe it or not, I didn't drink a lot of beer while there. When I did it tended to be a Cola-Weizen in the winter. And a radler in the summer. I'm mostly a single malt Scotch whiskey drinker.

    Word Crimes

I'd like to be inside his head for a day. I'm sure it would be akin to roaming around inside a kaleidoscope.
  25. Not really. Walla Walla is a small town & is very friendly. I will however miss all my German friends and the wonderful German bakeries. I count my self as very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in Europe. As an older bloke. I can and do compartmentalize the different countries and just chalk it up to Europe is Europe and America is America. Each has it's good and bad points.
