  1. BTW I feel like Seb’s crash test dummy, I thrash my car around the track looking for weaknesses in our project and he sits at home and polishes his extra carbon fiber
  2. Ive forgotten Seb’s exact thunderbolt lap time but I was at least -1sec so well worth sacrificing an engine. I think the piston will buff out and my son helpfully suggested I can seal the hole in the block with Flextape, the guy on the TV says it seals anything.
  3. Caterham’s rarely put out enough voltage at idle to charge the battery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    oil cooler

I would not run on track without an oil cooler. I have fitted a Mocal water oil cooler, picture attached, not the most professional installation as I never went back and made a bracket, but hey it’s kept the car cool for 5 years of regular track use. The fittings are AN12. Most people run a standard air oil cooler, which works well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Uh oh I would have bought that if I’d seen it and I don’t have an SV Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Only small chance of rain after 6pm on Sunday at the earliest according to my trusted Millville weather app. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. That was a fun and occasional leery afternoon. Hold on Thunderbolt’s day two that’s promising you have confidence in a late Brexit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Vovochandar The only thing you need to know about me, is that my passenger ride laps come with a British accent, and are a little less time consuming than Croc’s. Look forward to seeing you this weekend and would be happy to take any guests out on track. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I have a BGH gearbox in my Caterham, which I’ve tracked enthusiastically for the last 3 years and it’s been great. They have their own alumminium (spelt correctly) casings, which are a nice upgrade to the standard box. Highly recommend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. OK I’ve started to think about track days again. I’ll be there for sure. Happy to offer passenger rides and to provide some driving instruction for Seb, he must have forgotten how to do it by now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I believe caterham have changed ECU to run engine temperatures around 100 C. Apparently a request of Ford. I heard this from Blake (don’t remember his forum name) his new Duratec is also running at these temps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. My 6’1” son. S3 with lowered floors and Tillet seats. I think you’ll fit and I personally find the seats comfortable even on longer drives, but padded seat inserts available and only add about 1” of height. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Sitting at Heathrow airport trying to fly back, very busy and lots of delays apparently there’s some event going on in the USA today, I assume they must all be going to our sevens event;) Won’t make it in time tonight, but see you all Thursday. PS what’s this BS about new slicks Mr Gavel, 1000HP and grip, we’ll be eating orange dust... Simon W Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I upgraded from wet to dry sump. The wet sump is approx 3” deep and the dry sump 2” so theoretically 1”, BUT on my Duratec car the bell housing is approx 3” below the base of the engine (excluding sump) which would put it inline with the wet sump and eliminate the advantage. 17. I’m looking forward to it. Seb a couple of red run outings I think. Then I’m available for any guest rides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Good to hear it’s possible, I’m happy to rebuild the engine, but would be daunted at the thought of the gearbox. So far with lots of track-days I’m 3 years in on my box, I’ll keep my fingers crossed . Out of interest did you try Steve at SP Components / tracsport for spare parts. He provided the gearbox for my car in 2014. https://www.tracsport.com/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I've had my car tested on on a treadmill and sadly saw less than 175 hp at the camshaft. If I can get within 5 secs of Seb's laptimes at this years Croc & Tom Caterham fest, I will have to be pleased.
  20. Hi Seb, for some reason I'm only just catching up on this thread. Conversion looks great, nice job. Funny when Caterham flashed my ecu from R300 to R400 spec, when I built the car, they made the same mistake on the 4:1 rpm read out. Obviously slow learners. Can't wait to see you on track this year and relieved I now have an excuse Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Looking forward to it as ever, with or without debauchery. LSD installed so I can keep with my twin out of the corners, just hoping I have time to squeeze in the super charger to take care of the straights.
  22. Stuart at Premier power engines is in the UK, offers tuned Sigma engines and is very helpful. stuart@premierpowerengines.com Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I have a set of less than 1 year old 4 point harnesses from my S3. I had to upgrade to 6 poor harnesses for track days in NJ (4 point apparently illegal for track use in NJ!) if you interested I'm open to any reasonable offer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. My S3's in Cherry Hill area if that's close enough for you to get to. I'll measure the clearance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
