  1. :iagree:
  2. I still haven't done any track events with my Birkin, but I think most people run 16-20 psi so I think you can definitely drop it further. I run 20 psi in mine and will be experimenting with lower pressures soon. The super stiff sidewalls don't help either. I'm sure some of the more experienced autox guys can give you some better info. What size wheels and tires are you running? You don't want too wide a tire on a narrow wheel. Bruce :7drive:
  3. Wow, I definitely have to check it out someday. Thanks for the pictures!! Bruce :7drive:
  4. Sorry Jon, I didn't even notice the year on the form. The event was on June 1st. :banghead: Nancy and I took the Birkin and spent a few hours there. It was a beautiful day and they had a great turnout of British cars. There were (9) Lotus or Lotus-type vehicles, with an Elan, Europa, Esprit, (2) Elises, an Exige, a Series 2 Seven, a Stalker, and my Birkin. The Exige was the first one I had seen in person and was a BRG supercharged model. Needless to say I was impressed! Unfortunately the battery in my camera died and I never got a picture of it... Here's some shots of some of the other Lotus vehicles present: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/722725760_20080602_0028.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1176416135_20080602_0030.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1359791103_20080602_0029.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1402741890_20080602_0031.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/585859929_20080602_0035.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/717322336_20080602_0036.JPG The Series 2 was (I believe) restored by DSK cars sometime around 1980 and is pictured in the background of the top picture on page 153 in the book Legend of the Lotus Seven. I was only able to talk to the owner briefly before we got pulled in different directions. I never did see the Stalker owner... Bruce :7drive:
  5. Would like to see some more of the details - seems pretty cheap and it looks like it has some "good" stuff. No affiliation, etc: http://www.pd-go.com/index.php?action=website-view&WebPageID=21906&WebSiteID=409 Bruce :7drive:
  6. Looks like a fun day with lots of neat cars! Love the interior shot of the Gullwing....looks like a step back in time of about 50 years. Bruce :7drive:
  7. Great news Dave! Enjoy!! Bruce :7drive:
  8. :iagree: Bruce :7drive:
  9. Congrats Sal, Nice looking car! Love the clams, BRG paint, bench seat, and it's RHD too! I noticed the cutout in the hood, what kind of induction/carbs are you running? Bruce :7drive:
  10. Put on by the CT MG Club, but they have classes for most British cars including Lotus. It's really in a very scenic location even if you don't want to look at the cars. Here's a link to the registration info: http://ctmg2005.homestead.com/files/bbts2006/reg2006.pdf And a link for the park: http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?A=2716&Q=325214 Nancy and I plan on running down there in the Birkin if the weather is decent! Bruce :7drive:
  11. Ditto 5x5 Bruce :7drive:
  12. :iagree: Bruce :7drive:
  13. "I sang it basically all last week...sniff." - Al, you should have listened to everybody telling you NOT to sell!! :jester: Bruce :7drive:
  14. "Bob Seger - Turn the Page" - That's one I can listen to!
  15. If you're talking about songs that get in your head and drive you nuts for the rest of the day, then two songs come to mind. "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" by Tony Orlando and Dawn, and "The Night Chicago Died" by Paper Lace. :ack: I try to stay away from stations that play that kind of music!! Bruce :7drive:
  16. I just went out to the parking lot and measured the Birkin trailing arms at approximately 13-3/8". Measured with a tape measure lying on the ground so not too accurate... Check out these: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/906989896_image002-607x289.jpg Bruce :7drive:
  17. I safety-wired, double-nutted, and used the strongest Locktite available and they still fell off!!
  18. Nice looking Birkin! That thermostat hsg and aluminum spacer is the same set-up I had on my Birkin before I put the Raceline water rail on it. You can see where the owner has tie-wrapped some protective material to the outlet hose which was right up against the frame on my installation. I also have the "metal top" ZX1 motor in mine. If somebody from CT buys it, I can help you get through the DMV inspection without any problem. I have the bumpers/brackets/DOT approved lights/etc that you need to pass. And there is no emissions inspection so those Webers can stay!! And if anybody from another state needs "Birkin" bumpers, you're more than welcome to borrow them. They're hideous looking, but they work... Bruce :7drive:
  19. Nice job, cool ride!!
  20. BIG THANK YOU!! COME HOME SAFE AND SOUND!!! :flag: :flag: :flag:
  21. Sorry to hear you sold your Caterham, but it looks like Sandy will really appreciate it! Nancy and I couldn't believe it....first Al, now Steve. What the heck is going on around here!! :ack: Seriously, I hope you'll keep us updated on your plans with that welding course you're taking! Bruce :7drive:
  22. Congrats Sandy, Steve's car was a great choice!! "Congrats, nice car, but why is everyone selling?" - I don't get it either, John. But the way I look at it, we've added two more se7en crazies to the group, and Steve and Al will be back in the driver's seat before too long... Bruce :7drive:
  23. $4.15 for 87 octane.... :banghead: Bruce :7drive:
  24. "BTW, do you know what English Ford engines and Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines have in common????? When there's no oil on the ground under either one, it means there's no more oil in them!!!!" - I hope you're talking about the early P&W radial engines, because if you're not, I could be looking for a new career! Bruce :7drive:
  25. Wish you were closer Hal...it'd be nice to work on somebody else's problems for a change! Bruce :7drive: PS: Sorry my torque wrench didn't work in reverse. :ack:
