Yes they did Mazda, but the expression on this one (sorry, forgot their names) was a little more appropriate. I can post a picture of her sibling when I get home! Bruce

Bill/Marcy - It was great to follow you guys and take your photos. The MINI makes a pretty decent chase car! I have quite a few more pictures of your cars...some of just you, some of just the series 1 - (Mr Wilson?), and some of both cars together. I plan on posting some more of them over the next several days but if you'll give me your e-mail address I'd be happy to forward the rest to you! Cherik - The only thing I can think is Nancy left when we were strapping in to your car?? I know she doesn't drive that fast!! -
We have how many members??? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1887916366_IMG_0353.JPG Sorry Jeff and Sharlyn, I couldn't resist!!

Here's a nice homebuilt by Burke U. coming back from the parade Saturday morning. He did a GREAT job capturing the essence of an early 60's RHD Seven. I was impressed!! The sparks later on just added to show!! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/408941572_IMG_0235.JPG Bruce -

Reccomendation on Jacks and Torque Wrenches
11Budlite replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
Nice write-up on torque wrenches here: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r3/torque-wrench/ I ended up ordering a 1/2" Precision Instruments split beam wrench for lug nuts and heavy duty stuff. I also have a 3/8" Snap-On click-type and an in/lb dial type for the smaller stuff. I agree with Mazda on the new cheap Craftsman ones...haven't heard too many good things about them. I have an old Craftsman one I got back in the 70's and there's no comparison. As far as a jack, I picked up a Craftsman aluminum model on sale for $179. I like the way it works, but about 4 months past the wty it started leaking. So I tried to get a seal kit, but they would only sell you the whole cylinder assy for almost what the jack cost. I was not happy!! :cuss: So I took the cylinder apart and was able to match up the o-rings pretty close, put it back together with new jack oil, and it's been working fine for over a year! I think the biggest thing is to not extend or release it too quickly and it should hold up better. Bruce PS: like the other's have said, always use QUALITY jack stands!! -
Hi Gert, Sorry I can't help you because I'm still about 1-2 weeks from putting fuel in mine, but I'll be interested to see what you find. Bruce

Hi oldrolex, I'm not positive about this, but I did a search using a 1980 Ford Fiesta which I believe used a 1600cc Ford Kent engine and came up with the following based on the K&N HP-2009: Manufacturer Part Number AC PFL400A FRAM HP10 FRAM PH3600 FRAM PH5803 MOBIL1 M1209 MOTORCRAFT FL400A MOTORCRAFT FL400S PURO L20195 PURO L35098 WIX 51516 WIX 51762 The filters are usually interchangeable by thread size and o-ring dia, the only difference being the size of the filter body. The ones listed above should be about 3'' od. I believe the Ford engine has a 3/4-16 thread, but I don't remember the o-ring dia. Maybe one of the crossflow owners can confirm this. Hope this helps, Bruce

How many rides / drives did you give / receive
11Budlite replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Jon gave my wife Nancy a ride back to Fontana Village on Friday night while I followed in the Mini....even following a Seven is great fun! Then it was my turn Saturday morning!! This was the first time I'd been in a Seven traveling under it's own power for many years, but the reasons for wanting one of these machines all came quickly rushing back!! Then I was lucky enough to get a ride with Russ in his Birkin for the 9am parade. I know he was eager to pick up the pace a little bit, but it was a thrill just the same!! Then Cherik offered me a ride from the Saturday group photo shoot back to Tapoco and I was happy to oblige! There was a light rain falling but we just motored on and I got to experience the wet elbow syndrome once again!! Thanks once again to all!! Bruce and Nancy PS: hope to return the favor someday soon, and Jon, glad you made it back home!! -

"I've had that look on my face before" - I had that same look last year right before I wiped out on my mountain bike and broke my collarbone!! :ack: Here's another one. Old chasing new... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1023456357_IMG_0324.jpg Bruce -
Hi Cherik, Here's a couple pics of the tool I used to machine the T-9 case to clear the bigger gear used in the BGH gearset. All I did was use a cut off wheel with a heavy washer to back it up. I centered the case in the drill press, mounted the tool into the extended chuck, and then let it machine the case as the tool was moved upwards. It took a while to machine but it worked remarkably well for stuff I had laying around. I think it was about 2 3/8" in diameter. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1316385800_IMG_0387.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1709501500_IMG_0384.JPG Hope this helps, Bruce

Cherik on the left, and Graeme G. on the right keeping Cherik's car from floating away! A big thanks to Al, Mazda, and everyone else for all the work they did in organizing a GREAT event!! :hurray: It was great to meet all of you, and Nancy and I had a great time even though my car was not done in time to take to the event. A special thank you to Jon (Boxologist), Russ, and Cherik for reminding me what a blast these cars are by taking me for a ride!! Here's a couple pics until I get a chance to go through the rest. The first one is of Steve T. driving on I-81 to the event. I saw him buzz by when we were stopped in a rest area. By the time we got going he had a couple minutes head start but by exceeding the speed limit by just a small amount (honest officer!!) we were able to chase him down and take a few pics!! We were in our MINI at the time and had never met him so he must have thought we were nuts!! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/583422640_IMG_0162.JPG The second one is an original Series 1 that we were following on RT 28 over to Fontana Village for the group photo. I'm sorry that I don't have the name of the owner yet... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2078775317_IMG_0335.JPG More to come, Bruce PS: Hope everyone got home safe and sound! -
Not yet, but when I figure out the best way to do it I'll let you know. Do you think 3 bathroom scales would work? Not sure where there's a truck scale local to me... Bruce

Just a couple pics for anyone interested in what the aluminum deck model looks like. It was $500 extra, but should require no more maintenance. Bruce http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1989150092_IMG_0135.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/324709842_IMG_0140.JPG
